to all yah "anti trailer" members here..i'll baptize you as the "Anti Trailer Group" or ATG you know who you are.. (k,m,j) this thread might ruin your day
Now Luke, you forget my historic praise of your scooter and mode of travel. Let me refresh your memory.
Look at the BEST SCOOTER ON THIS SITE. The Yamaha Morphous. It requires clutch and variator service every couple of months. If a dealer had to do it the cost alone would be more than those poverty stricken motorcycle owners could bear. It needs a trailer and car sucking gas to travel a few hundred miles. Do you think that a slimy motorcycle owner could afford that? No way, they'd have to ride.
We realize the importance of your trailering your scooter to ride a few hundred feet upon arrival. Why it's everything the affluent scooter owner stands for.

Only thing that pretty well locks in the trailer for just hauling a scooter. My trailer is a flat bed that I can haul a sheel of dry wall on today and a couple scooters on tomorrow and the lawn tractor the next day. Outer edges are full of eye screws to make hook up points for straps.
I have never yet hauled a scooter so I could ride it some where else....whats the point? If your going to go some where else, ride it there! or just rent one when you get there if we are talking about a scooter that is uncomfortable riding going a long distance.

two out of three here still don't get the point of trailering a scooter. ever wonder why a lot of mc trailer company around? kendon, condor, bushtec to name a few that has been existing for a long time and actually making good business?? it's because there's a real need for a motorcycle trailer., if you have a chinese 50 and you have to travel 300miles, would you be insane to ride it all the way there?? mygad...i don't want to rent a scooter, goodness, i have my own, i just want to enjoy it when and where i want to enjoy it..,i want the trailer to get the road beating not the scooter...
so still, two out of three is hard headed stubborn...but i'm still giving you a chance...lol

A 50cc is one thing luke, they are not practical for highway travel. You are riding a 250cc that by most peoples words is very highway capable. I had thought about some time trailering mt GF's 50 and my 150 to a couple state parks and do some camping while there.. Thats no longer going to happen. Might pick up a 50 to do it later on.
A friend trailered his big bike to the east coast. His lady friend would not ride so the trailer. He and his daughter and her husband all rode their bikes all over the east coast while his lady friend visited her daughter also on the east coast. Had he gone alone there would have been no trailer. They do have their place, but riding there is part of the journey and fun.

:)Wow that is a great idea for a modification. I applaud your ingenuity & ability to see a task to completion. We NOW interrupt this post for some Constructive Criticism. Check out some How to video's for WELDING. I really can tell you're self taught...LOL. I bet you get that Poor mig gun Stuck to every thing you weld. You might want to replace the aluminum U channel with one made of steel. As you will soon find the aluminum is too soft for the weight & stress applied to it repeatedly. Not to mention wind shear, bumps & potholes going down the road. I'd hate to SEE your scoot laying on the side of the rode for lack of $6.00 worth of steel. Also IT appears that your bolt is to long for U channel. Which will allow the hole assembly to vibrate, twist & slide around.(Add your own Dirty joke here) Spacers are recommended. Just trying to help. Dave

I have Rocket, remember? 300 miles is a mere day trip. I did 82 miles in a couple of hours. I have thought of using my minivan and Rocket. My Parents live on Long island and you have to cross big, suspension bridges with a few thousand cars and trucks to get there. Otherwise it's a simple 200 mile ride and my 150 would be more than enough. The 250 is too easy for words on a short trip like that.

Just trying to help. Dave hey thanks dave, i agree with all your observations. especially the long bolt where the U channel seats, i thought about it the other day,it's pretty long,i already have something in mind to remedy it later as soon as i get home from work./ and the spacers too./ the U channel tho is made of steel,i was able to weld it with steele flux.,but i dunno, you maybe right./ one thing im worried about is the aluminum bed plate(part of the trailer) where i drilled a hole onto,,i dont think its strong enough to whithstand the repeated vibrations/ i need to make a swivelling fulcrum underneath the U channel ,in such a way that the entire weight of the front end of the scooty will sit over the main frame of the trailer./ and a durable metal plate which will support both sides of the hole... hmm will find out later .. yah, i need to improve my welding skills...if i can't improve, i'll just go back to JB welding...LOL ...... kz loves jb weld, i like quick steele better, easier to mold.
