I bought my used scooter several months ago. I have had it sitting since then because I was buying some new parts, and repainting body panels, etc. I am now starting to test things, and start assembling the scooter. The scooter seems to be running fairly good, but I have not rode it yet since I have been working on it. I have changed the oil, rear gear lube, and coolant. I also set the idle speed. The temp is running about half way. I found a few things I have questions about. 1. I found this loose hose and would like to know what it is, and if it is supposed to hook to something or hang loose. Pic of end of hose above belt cover on left side. Pic of other end of hose at bottom of carb. (and cobwebs from sitting too long). 2. I was checking the charging system, and want to know if my finding are OK, or a possible problem. I have about 12.8 volts at idle, or off. Battery is a new high power AGM battery. When I rev the engine the voltage only goes to a max of about 13.10 volts. the post I have read says it should go to about 14 volts. Is this a problem? I may have a few more questions, but have to go for now. I will post more if I think of more questions. Thanks all.

That hose from bottom of carb is the drain hose.

It's water cooled. I'm assuming that you have the air box and filter that goes on the end of that pipe.

Yes, I have the air box assembly that goes on there. I had taken it off to remove the side cover to check the drive belt, and change the gear oil. I even have a spare 250 motor and air box. I don't know if the spare motor runs, but I got it with the rear tire attached, starter on it, etc. for only $25, but no carb with it.
I forgot to get the belt size info while I had the cover off, but I will remove the cover again and repaint it since some of the paint is worn off.
I checked, and I do have the drain screw on the carb. I also removed more cobwebs.
What about the charging system question? Voltage when revving engine maxed out around 13.10 volts. Is that enough, or do I need to check additional components?
Thanks all for educating me about these scooters. I can do a lot of the work, I just have to learn how these things function, and maybe get a few more tools.

Welcome..my scoot is a 2008 Roketa MC54B-250 (257) with the Linhai clone. I installed HID's, 5000k, H4 and LED's in the stop and turn. I installed a volt meter and it shows 13.1 going down the hiway at 60 mph. It keeps the battery charged and no problems. Life is Good....
