You might have a bad blocking diode, which controls the R/R to charge the battery. It is like a one way valve and is close to the R/R. I have had the same problem with my scoot. Finally found a diode that would replace the one on my scoot, does not look like the oem.

The wheel is determined by which engine you have. I think the 244cc has one style and the 257cc has another style. I replaced my rear wheel almost 4 years ago and I lucked out to get one off Ebay. The 257cc uses the 260 scooter rear wheel. Most of the time the rear wheel nut comes loose and the wheel moves side to side. This removes the inner splines for the axle and ruins the wheel. I always check the rear axle nut every time I think about it.

I am 66 yrs young myself. The front tires last normally 2x or 3x longer than the rear. I use my local Yamaha shop for tire mounting, I just tell them the tires are off a Yamaha scooter. Enjoy...

I use Avon Strykers....all tires only last around 2500 to 3000 miles, it you regular check air pressure. The low profile hides the low pressure of the tire. I have installed 4 sets in 11,500 miles and 6 yrs of service. Enjoy the ride...

The rear axle nut must be tight and it should be checked everytime you think about it. I use blue loctite and do not turn the nut after using the loctite. That will defeat the loctite and it will come loose again. I move the wheel/tire left to right to check for movement.

I had to change my r/r last year. It was located on the right side behind the rt rear body panel. I remove the seat...the inside panel...trunk holder...trunk.. try and remove just enough to lift the side panel and r&r the R/R. I could see the R/R from underneath the panel.

The motorcycle shop will do the exchange, just don't tell them it is for a Chinese scooter (no matter what make). The 10/12/13 inch tires are very hard to remove and install. The new tires are very stiff and even when done in 100 plus degree summer days. Just my 2 cents...
