I like Pirelli's. But no matter which ones you choose, make sure they are the round ones made out of a good stiff rubber....

x2 pirelli I look at it like a good tire might just keep you out of the ER. When you are riding on just two tires to keep your face out of the blacktop it does not pay to skimp on a few dollars tire price.

If you should go with Kenda, I would shy away from the K413 as a drive tire. Just took one off my 150cc after only 2300 miles...wasn't totally bald, but was worn out. Don't see how it would be a good choice for a 250 considering the extra weight and torque. Maybe their other models are better....but it won't be me buying them to find out.
Almost forgot to say that I agree with above suggestion of Pirelli's.....run them on both of my cruisers....570 lb bikes....1200cc power plants

I use Avon Strykers....all tires only last around 2500 to 3000 miles, it you regular check air pressure. The low profile hides the low pressure of the tire. I have installed 4 sets in 11,500 miles and 6 yrs of service. Enjoy the ride...

I am in my 89th year and never did a tire change in my life but these on my scoot were bear and I had no idea what to do outside of ordering new ones, which I did. Avon AM63 Viper Stryke 120/70/13 for front and 140/60/13 rear from Motorcycle Superstore for $98.98 free shipping. How did I know how to do all this you ask? Six months of reading all I could on this web site. Taking off the wheels was simple except for the rear tire getting hung up on the right side shock and then I read this in an old post. Remove the left side shock and the whole thing will drop down a little which I did and ...bingo off it came. Put it all back together the way I took it off and I am a happy old retired WW2 Marine.

I am 66 yrs young myself. The front tires last normally 2x or 3x longer than the rear. I use my local Yamaha shop for tire mounting, I just tell them the tires are off a Yamaha scooter. Enjoy...

Well boys! I want to thank you all for the advice and recommendations. I now have 2800 miles on my scoot. The rear tire (origional) is balding. It appears to be a Kenda knockoff. I decided to trust age and 6 months of research and went with taildrag's recommendation. I placed my order for 2 Avon AM63 Viper Stryke tires in the sizes he suggested. Paid $98 for both on Amazon. Should be here in 2-3 days.
So, my next question is can I change these myself or do I need to take them somewhere and have them mounted and balanced?
Any advice is welcome

And to balance them just toss in some balance beads and forget about weights and stuff.

I took mine to a local filling station where I knew the guys and ask them if they could mount them. At first they said no 'cause the rims are aluminum but one of the guys was a biker and he said he would be carefull. He was and I am happy.
