Hello, My name is Justin, I'm from Southern Utah. My friend is selling a scooter I am seriously considering. However I've been unable to find the make or model on Kelly Blue Book, Allstate or Progressive. The VIN report says the make is Bashan, however Motobravo is written on the engine. Thank you in advance!

Welcome Justin.... how big is the motor? 50cc? 150cc? 250cc? is it running?
there are three major things i'd check before plunging... 1) Compression reading( slightly de-virginized is ok, but if it's too loose? forget it, you won't enjoy it) 2) condition of the stator( make sure that it's not f*cked up) 3) title and registration( to make sure it's not stolen)
good luck!
if it's below $300...go for it!

Its a 150cc. He does have the title and registration. I actually tested it out last week. I also know he's used it regularly over the past year. So I wouldn't know about the compression or stator, but would pretty much any mechanic test those? It has 3300 mi, but I understand mileage isn't as big a factor with scooters.

Bashan builds their motors in-house and doesn't buy from fly-by-night engine builders. I have a Bashan with 7,400 miles and it runs like new. With 3,300 miles on it most of the bugs have been worked out. Buy it. Most Bashan engines have Japanese parts and will last forever.

Thanks so much. The only other thing is I have to keep it outside. Any recommendations? Rain and uv damage are my main concerns

A good cover would be helpful. There are numerous models. I would look for one that promises to vent out moisture but keep out precipitation. I once had to keep a motorcycle outside and bought a vinyl cover for it. Rain stayed out but moisture was trapped under it and rusted the chrome. The next year I kept it in Dad's garage.

So I bought it for 1100. Its been awesome! Yesterday the muffler fell off. It has a new little hole and the pipe going into it is what broke. I looked around the site a little. I'm gonna try cinching it down with bailing wire in place of the bolts just as a temporary fix. Any thoughts?

When you get the new pipe remember to check the mounting bolts are tight periodically. Single cylinder engines all shake and rattle hardware loose. I check mine from time to time and have over 7,500 on the original muffler.
