I'm riding to work yesterday on the Fashion and I saw a couple of Wild Turkeys actually flying across and landing on my side of the road on the shoulder. I'm thinking, "That's cute". What I didn't realize was that they were the first two in a squadron of ten. All of a sudden I'm in a swarm of flying turkeys. They hit me on the handlebar, my shoulder and leg. I didn't go down but I was stunned. I went a little and went to stop to collect myself. My left leg went down but didn't work and the bike fell over. My left mirror was smashed already and the visor spoiler/spoiler on the left was smashed in the drop along with numerous scuff marks. Fortunately there are Honda and aftermarket replacements but what a pain. Turkeys, no less. I've ducked deer for years so now nature is attacking me from the sky.

Glad you or the bike wasn't seriously hurt! Turkeys are it pretty often around here and they can do some serious damage!

40 years ago I had a pheasant hit me riding to work. It about tore my leg off. Worked at a manufacturing plant and went in an hour before the rest of the people got there setting up test equipment on production line. Skinned and gutted the bird and then stuffed it in a cryogenic freezer for a instant freeze. Then I limped for a week.
Had another close call 10 years ago with a couple turkey vultures, it takes them quite an effort to get airborn and one almost hit me in the head while getting up off a road kill. Had to duck quick.

I called Cookees who reminded me about Alpha-sports.com
Honda Helix parts that match-$95.00 plus shipping, so say about $110.00
CF Moto replacement parts-$36.09 shipped
Both parts were less than 1/3 the Honda parts. You gotta love Chinese scooters.

KZ...after we talked I went out and dug deeper. I DO have both parts from a used Fashion...somewhat scuffed...so if the Alfa order tanks, I got your back.

I was just notified that Alpha Sports shipped the parts. They're in Maine so it should be quick. Thanks for the backup Cookees, good to always have an alternate plan.
Thanks everyone. Now that I'm a little calmer about the damage to the scooter, I'm feeling lucky. A wild turkey weighs about as much as a bowling ball and I took two direct hits. A couple of black and blues and a swollen pinky is it. It could have been much worse.

I wonder if deer whistles would be of any use for birds like that. I know since I been using them on scooters I only have seen deer close up when going real slow. Last spring I noticed a big dog stopped in his tracks as he was trotting along a fence line when I passed by him.

I'll order a shot of wild turkey tonite in your honor, KZ. That oughta show 'em! Good to hear all is repairable and you suffered no major injury. BTW a pigeon hurts at 40 mph.
