The following comment was lifted from a blog I follow.
Imported "proper" scooters/mopeds scare most operators of motorcycles.
Simply because said owner/operators feel threatened by something they are unable to understand and hence control.
Then again the Vespa is a proper scooter; everything else is something else.
I can only imagine that this man's self esteem must be pretty low that he has to reinforce it with an overpriced scooter.

That is how some people feel, it is a part of human nature.

Since so many people have copied the Vespa it's actually quite ordinary. Even I have a Vespa copy. Wait! Does that mean I have a "Proper" scooter too? Imagine, a copy with 7,500 miles for 1/4 the price, now that's proper.

What frosts my buns is this "Motorcycles stink, scooters are best" attitude from Vespa (and other) owners. Especially since no one can even agree on a firm definition of scooter. To hear Vespa owners prattle on, they're the only ones who have it right. Tell these guys. now.msn.com/2-million-bikers-converge-on-dc-for-9-11-1I'm sure there are more than a few Burgys, Silver Wings and, who knows, a Roketa or two in there. Riding isn't about building walls, it's about group spirit and cooperation. Cracks like " Imported "proper" scooters/mopeds scare most operators of motorcycles.Simply because said owner/operators feel threatened by something they are unable to understand" reflects Class Distinction and ignorance far beyond the boundaries of common sense. I ride both and I don't consider scooters much different than bikes. At their heart most scooters are just small wheeled motorcycles. Ask your DMV and insurance company. Of course don't ask a Vespa owner, they ride a superior vehicle.

I am not sure there is a best scooter but I definitely would like to have a vespa AS OVER PRICED AS THEY ARE. . At least you can still buy parts for a 60 year old one. What makes any one think there will even be a current yamaha running in 20 years, much less a way to improvise parts for them then. Yamaha has changed the way they do business, I used to like and trust them. I had a 100cc twin cyl 2 stroke street motorcycle from them in the 60's that my dad bought new and many more since.
When we talk best scooter as opposed to what? As far as best value there is no question some of the chinese would get that honor. I am a fan of simple, and the more electronics and complicated the more likely that they will end up being junked or used as a parts scooter. Even luke saw that coming as he bought him self a part scooter to keep his morph running rather to depend of yamaha to supply parts when needed.

I own a 250 scooter. Wife owns a 250 Honda Rebel. We rode all the way to Illinois and both cruised the same speed. I like scooters better because no shifting. Definately my scooter is faster on take off, but over all speed her bike is faster by 10 mph.. But mine with now roller weights, new clutch and belt might be faster still. Mine is going on 6 years old and hers- 1 year old. So her component are still in great condition where mine are worn. She had a scooter but felt the ground was hard to reach, thus got a Rebel with a low seat.

------> whoah, wait,,are we still talking about scooters here now?
i'm happy with my morphous,, it's a very classy scooter,it's a scooter that doesn't look very much like a scooter, i mean it's unique in his own respect, well who wants to own something that everyone does owns too... i don't!!! i want to be unique...apparently KZ thinks the opposite that's why he dislikes my morphy.
guys, please don't get mad at me but i'm really staying away from chinese scooters, i don't like them,it's just not for me. it's not in my Radar.
