Murphy has frowned upon me again. The battery seems to have died even after being on a charger for over 24 hours. After a carb cleaning and rewiring the CDI The dead battery put an end to trying to start it. I primed the fuel system and I think I heard it pop once just as the battery died. I don't think the battery lasted a whole revolution. I have not had any luck with the kick starter. What type of battery should I get for my 50cc scoot. The OEM lead-acid 80cca(?) battery is dead but still under warranty. The literature said it was a 7Ah battery. I have not heard anything good about the Asian wet cell batteries. Do the gel-cell batteries work and where can I get a good one? Is there a better way to connect the battery than those PITA bolts and nuts? Thanks for all the help for a scooter newbie.

Need to get a battery close to at LEAST 200CCAs the cheap ones are low on CCAs and will only maybe crank a couple of times and they are depleted. Pay a little more for a good battery and it will last BUT make sure the CCAs like I said are WAY OVER 100CCAs. Alleyoop

I was looking at the sealed lead acid batteries (SLA). They use them on UPS systems etc. They don't rate those with CCA figures, just AHrs. I am very limited on space by the dimensions of the battery box. They should send me a replacement under warranty but it will be on the slow boat from China. I see many replacement UPS batteries in the same 7 to 9Ah range that will fit my battery space. If they send me another wet-cell I can install it in the scooter. I can also use the sealed lead acid for another UPS I have that needs a new battery. The SLA batteries can be had for $15-20 each. They want $60 for another wet cell at O-Really's.

i actually bought a bigger atv battery and just left my battery cover off. The plastic flap covers it just fine and i never put my feet there anyway. Might bother some people but not me so much.
