Hey guys! I wanted to see what you guys thought about this idea. I wanna get one of these heaters, or something like it 12VOLT Powered. www.walmart.com/ip/Roadpro-RPSL-681-12-Volt-Direct-Wire-Ceramic-Heater-Fan-with-Swivel-Base-Cooking-with-Calphalon-5-Quart-Hard-Anodized-Nonstick-Chili-Pot-with-Lid/29814912I have already upgraded my Stator/Magneto AND my battery to a 12volt, 12 Amp hour. I can run my 250 watt amp, all of my lights, and I my Magneto STILL gives 13.1-14volts to charge the battery sufficiently. If I get this one or another one like it, I would also make DOORS, for my scoot. Most likely out of Plexi-Glass. Hinge the doors to the front of the scoot, with a quick release pin, so I can take them on and off easily. Attach them to the back with a Velcro strip, so IF, I had to put my feet down, like at a stop, or in a wreck I could do so easily. What do you guys think? Thanks for looking!

mikey, that's a wild idea, bro! I like your enthusiasm though. That heater takes a lot of power 300 watts which I'd say is way to much for the little generating system on the scoot even with the upgrades. I'm not so sure. The experts will probably chime in shortly.

While we're waiting for an expert I guess I'll confuse everybody.
Watts = Amps X Volts
ergo
W/V = A
ergo
300/12=25 AMPs!
ergo:
OK...OK.....kinda melodramatic, I admit it. Here's the deal, voltage is the "push" behind the electrons in an electrical circuit. The amps is a measure of the number of electrons moving past a certain point. The amps is the more accurate measure of the energy in a circuit and 25 is a boatload for scooter even with the upgrades. The fact that you're getting decent volts under load means very little while pulling 25 amps. The main fuse on a 250 Fashion is 20 amps! Most scooters have a 10 to 15 amp main fuse. You'd be melting wires and blowing secondary fuses if not the main itself. I'm sorry pal but they're selling this heater as a truck heater for a reason. It needs a truck stator.

I highly doubt this is feasible. But you are welcome to try.

LOL I hadn't looked at this post in a while! I LOVE the enthusiasm! Ya, I have decided that even with it running a 250WATT AMP for my 5x7 Speakers, That it would be TO MUCH for the Stock Stator.
It was sure nice to think about a WARM scoot on a COLD DAY though! hahaha I was even thinking a Blower Motor at Oriellys Auto,(22.99) and taking the heat off the engine IF it was enough to matter...

Forget about the 12v heater. Just mount a 2-4kW inverter with velcro strips to your floor pan. The HD extruded aluminum housing will take foot pressure. Then you can use a standard AC powered utility heater with a fan. With the stronger fan it will heat your 'cab' faster. Harbor Freight has a 2-4kW inverter #69662 on sale now for $130. Some cashiers will let you use the 25% off coupon also. Wire the inverter directly to the battery to avoid overloading the scoot DC electrical system. Due to the inverters AC properties it will be able to utilize AC input directly from the magneto. The power from the scoot will be able to bypass the power robbing voltage regulator and pass AC directly to the inverter while using the smaller scooter wires for the alternating current.
There are many advantages to using the inverter and utility heater setup:
You will be able to use the utility heater inside at night to capture the heat from the already warmed-up unit and keep you comfortable while saving utility power costs by turning down the thermostat.
You will be able to run a power strip down the center of your scoot to easily connect other AC powered devices to the system.
The inverter will be able to power your furnace and lights during utility power outages due to storms etc. A gallon of gas in the scoot will make a LOT of electricity since it does not have to push the scooter down the street at the same time.
With a spare battery and a charger you will be able to take the scoot out to run quick errands also while the inverter keeps the house warm. Use a HF #69955 charger, also on sale, to keep the spare battery topped off between uses. It will also make a hot spare battery for the scoot. ;D

2KW inverter on a bike battery. That would be fun!
