Hey everyone im new to the community . I just bought a 50CC CY50-A taotao Its the VIP one, Or at least has VIP Future champion decals.
I just got it Put together today, Came in Late yesterday(Brand new)
I put new Oil in it, High grade Gas. Only thing is i dont have a Battery charger so Im charging my Scooter Battery with Jumper cables hooked to my Truck. Well First let me say before i got my buddy to bring my jumper cables back, I put the Battery In, Hooked it up, And the turn signals came on, But the 2 main Head Lights dont. Do they only come on once the Battery is fully charged or the bike is Running?
Ok So next, After letting it charge a few hours I wanted to see if i could kick start it, So put the battery in, Then went to Kick starting it.NOTHING! NO START! The fuel filter was full so gas is getting to it. But its not starting..
What could be the issue guys? Iv got the battery back on the charger letting it charge for a few more hours, Also just to check the battery was getting charged or has some power, I took the jumpers off the truck battery and made sure they gave a little spark, they did. So it seems to be charging.
Anyone help me out here?
Im new to Motorcycles ,scooters all that stuff, Iv only owned a Dirt Bike when i was younger. Im no way a auto mechanic. I do know what the parts are, just not fully how to work on them..
So whats the issue if there could be one?

Make sure the KILLSWITCH on the right handgrip IT IS THE RED BUTTON on top is on the RUN POSITION. Also some have a killswitch on the SIDE STAND make sure the sidestand is up and only start it on the Center Stand. Most the headlights will not come on until the motor is running.
When you try to start it with the Electric start does it SPIN the starter and the motor turns over? Also when you go to start them YOU HAVE TO SQUEEZE the BRAKE and your stoplights should come on then HOLD THE BRAKE and push the start button. Alleyoop

Some other things to check that all the hoses are connected and connected to the right places. Important one is the FUEL hose going to the Fuel inlet on the carb and the VACUUM hoses going to the PETCOCK as well as to other parts of the system IF there are EMISSION CANSITERS on that scoot. If you could take pictures of the Carb area and hoses that would help. Alleyoop

You can use push picture to put up pictures here it is easy and free: picturepush.com/host.php?image=100759501. Click on the BLUE UPLOAD another image 2. Click on BROWSE 3. That will display your computer directories 4. click on where your picture is at 5. Click on your picture and click on OPEN and it will load it 6. Then scroll down to the box where it says640*480 7. It does take awhile for the fuel to pump into the bowl. U can speed up the process by removing the line going to the intake and sucking on it. Every new scoot Ive had took at least 30 seconds of total crank time until i figured that one out.
These occurrences trouble me. A brand new scooter should least run when you get it. These no call for having to troubleshoot that part of it.
A proper PDI will find loose hoses etc. The days of riding your new scooter the same day are over. Proper PDIs take time and you should not be riding until its done.

The important pics would be like this: But I see yours had an excelerator PUMP on the carb. Give the THROTTLE a couple of full twists that will squirt fuel into the Venturi then try to start it. If you press the START BUTTON YOU HAVE TO: 1. Turn the KEY ON 2. SQUEEZE and HOLD THE BRAKE 3. PUSH THE START BUTTON Also the button on top on the right hand grip it is a SWIVEL button that is the KILLSWITCH. IT SHOULD BE DOWN TOWARD YOU to have it in the run POSITION. Alleyoop Alleyoop

FANTASTIC!! Good job Now to break it in DO NOT run it at Wide Open Throttle for at Least 50miles. What you want to do is run it up 20-30 or so and VARY the speeds go up run it for a few mintues then lower the speed and run it for a few minutes WHILE YOUR RIDING IT THAT IS(HEHE). That will seat the RINGS and make them seal good.
Ride Safe Alleyoop
