Trying to balance out the rpms a bit better. If Im running 6gr sliders now will i need to change weight when i install the new variator? What do they generally run if so? Heavier o lighter? I have 4-5-6 gr sliders already on hand but just wondering what effect the new one will have on my rpms running the 5s.
Also saw a few posts that rollers are designed better for the added slope of the performance variators. Is this true? Sliders are not as effective?

Thats the same unit that came with my BBK. Works well. Good deal too. The hype is the ratchet looking teeth on the perimeter are for increased cooling. Guess you will be a roller weight mixer as there are only three of each weight. I have the 1K springs on my 150 and for my style of riding they are about as high as I would want to go. BTW this is the same vendor I ordered my 10gm rollers from. I have yet to get them. Hope you have better luck!

The 150cc variators and the 50cc variators fan plates are different. The 50ccs the fan plate has teeth on it for electric start because it has the BENDIX that does the starting, while the 150s have a Starter Clutch inside the motor to turn the crank to start.
I emailed the seller asking for the diameter of the variator. Alleyoop

Don't know it all depends on the variator and the rpms of the motor. So what I would do is MARK the Variator with a marker like this and run with the 6 gr sliders and see how much of the Mark it leaves. Then you can adjust by lighter or heavier. Alleyoop OH BY THE WAY WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR OEM VARIATOR OFF measure it across and let me know what it measures at. It should measure 3.? inchs across. Alleyoop

Will do. Why does rolling wrench say sliders are not designed for the ramps of the performance varietiors?

Who is ROLLING WRENCH?? Whoever it is does not know SQUAT. And you can tell whoever it is I SAID SO. Most folks do not know how the CVT actually works they try something and they mess it up and then blame it on something else BUT THEMSLEVES because they put the wrong size or did it wrong or set something up wrong.
I have ROLLERS and SLIDERS(Dr. Pulley and None Dr. Pulley) of the same sizes and have experimented till the cows come home. I even have different Variators , Clutch Springs, Contra Spring, Different Cluchs, Different CDIs, Coils even different size belts. I even cut down a BOSS. So I know what each will give or not give. The best I found are the Dr. Pulley Sliders they last a long time and move the Variator nice and smooth in and out and give the best top end. Also when finding the gram weights that work best with your motor and setup and you want to go with SLIDERs You get 1 gram heavier Sliders than the rollers you like. Reason is SLIDERS only change your RPMS by 200-350 and ROLLERS change your RPMS by 500-600 so you make out with the Sliders going 1 gram heavier and you get just a little more top end to boot and your RPMS will not suffer. The inner drive plate has a form of tooth machined into it. Supposed to aid cooling, might help, who knows?

Well I hate to tell you but the one you bought the seller said it is 3.5. So I do not know what makes that one a Performance Variator. Are you sure yours is NOT already a performance Variator, they are very easy to spot on how they fit in the CVT. Alleyoop Here is an OEM VARIATOR ON A 50cc:

I thought all the magic was in the slope on the backside where the rollers go?

Stock face is 3.5...oldscoot how long ago did you order? You wont have a problem with your order. I have bought several things from him before with no issues. He sent rollers the first time for a 150cc instead of the listed 50cc rollers. At first he wouldn't take them back saying I had ordered the wrong thing. I sent pics proving it was his mistake and he relented on the return. Its been over 10days since he received the return and I haven't received either the correct rollers or an answer to my inquires as to the where abouts. Not great customer service! I think the ramp profiles are different from the stock variator. At the very least its a nicer machined part.
