I still prefer the cold over humidity and heat. I don't like the ice and snow. We get both shi**y cold and unbearable heat here in KC. It is interesting to note that most children love the ice and snow but when they start driving their attitude changes dramatically.
When my daughter moved to Santa Monica CA her landlord proudly demonstrated the heater operation for those few nights it fell below 40°F. We just smiled and laughed. She was moving from a place where some days it did not get above -40°F during the day and icicles formed in the bedroom. She never used that heater.

I used to live in KC years ago, and I know just what you mean. I've seen it at 100 deg. at midnight, and I've seen it stay in the single digits for days in the winter. I always threatened to move south, and I finally did. Now I am getting to where I can't take the heat. At least I have a long riding season here in Texas. I rode to work 3 days this week, but tonight it is going to get down to the 20s here, with some ice and sleet coming. Cold doesn't stay long here, tho. It will probably be back in the 70s next week.

I am not riding today. We got some snow flakes etc. It is 30°F here at the moment, supposed to hit 34 but I doubt it will make it.
That 100° at midnight weather is horrible with the humidity also. The wind makes it feel like living in a blast furnace. Most summers we get a stretch of that ~100° heat even at night in KC. Utility bills for cooling are outrageous. Then we get hit with high heating bills in the winter partially due to the wind. The wind just sucks heat right out of me. I hate living in this area but I am stuck here.

As if it wasn't bad enough, it's 24* outside with light snow falling. An earlier forecast was for 2-4 inches by morning. This afternoon it soared up to 30* and sunny before the snow began to fall. I was so tempted to go out and ride before the roads got salted but never made it.
