I just wanted to kick this around . When your looking to buy anything online and you know that you will have the items shipped . Where the seller is does this matter ?
Would you pass a website that has its city or state in its name ?

Don't quite know what you are getting at. I never ever pay with out using a credit card so I always have a degree of protection. As far as city names go I would always prefer to know where I am dealing with. Most web sites do not have that on the front page. As far as scooters I would be very apprehensive to buy a scooter from say calif. especially since if it could not be sold there and therefore is illegal for them to even start the engine on one of them out of the container to see if it really ran like the china seller claimed. john

Well here is some poop, just about 99.9 percent of the scoots from overseas are imported by a distributor in CA. So if a B&M dealer orders some scoots they get them in the crate that they came over from China. Now if you buy a scoot from one of them and they advertise a PDI or whatever for some amount of money and you pay for a PDI, then and only then would they even take them out of the CRATE IF they really do. I am sure you would be able to smell gas from someplace IF they started the motor, gas fumes linger for a long time. My .02 Alleyoop

The only PDI they did on mine was maybe to see if the lights worked and the engine turned over somehow. Otherwise it was DOA. There was no gas smell at all in the tank. The engine had been started but probably at the engine factory.
As far as websites and locations go I usually look in the 'contact us' info etc for a location. When I bought my scoot from the CA distributor I Googled their locations and did a street view to check them out.
Shipping and 'handling' fees vary so I just factor them into the price. Taxes also vary. It also costs $$$ to get in your car and visit a store or stores and bring an item home. Very few people think of that when making price comparisons. Warranty and return issues are always a consideration.

Where doesn't matter so much as reputation. Partsforscooters is in Florida, Scrappydog in Las Vegas. I buy from them almost exclusively since they do well with their customers and have 99% of what I need. I also bought from Alpha Sports in Maine for CF Moto bits and will buy more. That I did on Cookees recommendation. Reputation is what counts.
