I tore the engine down in my scooter. Was pretty fun to do. Took about 20 minutes to do it. I found the source of my oil leak was a base gasket. Now that I had to do this much work to get to that I'm going to throw a big bore kit in my scoot

Look at your CDI box. Check the smaller 2-position connector. If there are two wires it is probably an AC unit. One wire may be black/red (AC power) and the other may be black/white (KILL switch), unfortunately manufacturers use different colors. If there is just one wire in that connector you probably have a DC unit. That wire will show 12V when the ignition switch is ON.
That 'Power Plug' in the end of your BBK muffler is probably the part I need for my scoot. Mine unscrewed itself and blew out when I hit the pothole from Hell one day. Now my scoot is too loud. I would appreciate a description or picture of it since I don't even know what mine looked like inside before it exited my muffler. My pipe now has an opening that seems to be about a 30mm thread. Just eyeballing a tape measure though. Any info would help.

if your headlight doesnt come on until you turn over the engine that also might tell you its AC

if your headlight doesnt come on until you turn over the engine that also might tell you its AC running lights and blinkers work with key on, but headlight doesnt activate until engine is running. So I guess I have an AC., ================================ 1: Spell check , buy instead of bye, ect. 2:\/ \/ \/ Thanks for your input on the big bore kits. I know the old saying , pay me now or pay me a lot more later. But I'm just trying to get this scooter running as cheaply as possible. I really should just abandon this scooter, as the dash is busted on it, the odometer doesnt work, mirrors fall off, seat bucket is busted, plastic pieces missing,. its really beaten up. I was just wanting to build up a engine for the experience of doing it. and maybe transplant this engine and driveline into a new project later. (like a gocart for my nephew or something).

Join the ranks of the FrankenMechs.... I have done a considerable amount of tinkering in the past. I made things from pieces and parts of other things hence the 'Frankenstein' look at times. It is a lot of fun. Some things even turn out to be useful. I still do it very slowly.
Just check out that CDI connector.
Edit: I went through that ebay sellers listings and I have some pictures of what I need. My muffler is the same as what he sells with those big bore kits. It looks like that muffler 'tuning' plug is just a threaded plug with a hole through it. I would guess it is about 13-16mm. The one I had was just formed sheet metal with a hole and threaded OD. I did not think mine had anything else connected to it when I peered in with a flashlight. Now I just need to get one of those plugs or have one made. I wish I had the $$$ to get my lathe hooked up since it does metric threads easy. Determining the thread dimensions on an ID thread is fun. I may just contact the seller next week and see if I can buy just a plug. My muffler is new, so I hate to have to buy an entire new muffler. I will definitely safety wire it next time. Thanks for posting that link. I have been all over looking at mufflers....

There is something to be said about taking something that you should just throw away and breathing new life into it....there is also no feeling like riding something you have fixed and made your own. Its so much more of a pleasure for me to ride or use something i have fixed up....

I have not rec'd an info on that plug but I did find a way to get some noise away from my ear. It is fun to try to 'fix' things.
First I bored out the threads from a 45° galvanized 1/2" NPT elbow and reduced the OD on one end to wedge into the ~28mm ID exhaust pipe. It was too much restriction and I lost about 1/4 of my throttle. The hole was larger than what is shown on that power plug but I think the 45 angle was an even bigger restriction. Now I have a useless bling type 2-1/2" chrome exhaust turndown on the end of the muffler. It looks real stupid but it did get the noise away from my ear and did not cut power. It is definitely not a stealth scooter though. For grins I should just hang the big oval Magnaflow 2.5" muffler off my truck on the end of the scooter muffler and see what it does. -LOL

The headlights working with the motor running or not has nothing to do if its AC or DC. When defining if a Scooter is AC or DC what it means is HOW IS THE CDI fed voltage to the COIL for the SPARK PLUG. If its a DC CDI it is fed 12v from the battery when you turn the KEY ON. Easy to test Turn the KEY ON and take either with a 12V Light Tester or Volt Meter Test the BOTTOM WIRE on the 2 PLUG of the CDI. If using Light tester it will light up if it is a DC CDI or will register 12v using a Volt Meter. Alleyoop
