I have a 50cc qmb motor. With standard variator and rollers. It is sluggish or slow not reving very high before the CVT starts to shift. I was wondering can I just run with three rollers in my variator to let it rev a bit higher before the shift? Or do I need all six for proper performance? and dose roller color indicate weight? Also when on center stand it will rev very high so I know its capable...

You can but I bet the rpms will be too high. Just get a new set they are cheap. Pharmacy can weigh yours so you know what came stock.

$6.99! Click the image for link
The last time I asked my pharmacist to weigh something he wanted my Blue Cross card first. I've never thought of running just three weights, now that's some thinking outside the box. Hey TW, I bet that would get your RPMs over 9K! The weights aren't color coded. You have to weigh them or have the package. Seriously, running three weights would be a quantum leap towards lighter, I'm not sure how the engine would react. I don't think the stability on the ramp plate would be safe either. If you try it, make sure you put the CVT cover on.

Anyone object? Im now worried about the clutch and bell blowing up? I did run 6g on another stock set up. 6gx6rollers=36g....12gx3rollers=36g?

It wont blow up. Unless you are 225 pounds plus i doubt you need anything less that 6gr. The past 2 scoots Ive bought new were 2013 TaoTao and a Znen and both came with 5 gr rollers. Some of the older models came with heavier weights. Theres no way yours came with 12s...thats 150 territory.
I weigh 250 and run 5 gr sliders and iots perfect. If yours is slow you may have 7 or 8's in there. Take 3 out and youll rev way too high.
CVS weighed mine until i got a scale or you can visit the nearest "hood" and anybody can weigh them for ya ;D

Ok....well It worked!!! quite well also im going to say twice if not more power. Not reving to high either. But a sound coming from cvt area sound like metal squeaking or the belt squeaking and accompanied by a ringing rattle like a bell. Only at very low rpm but not at idle only during acceleration for like 1 second. then as i accelerate its smooth threw the whole bottom and top end. 43 mph max today....

Whats the total weight?
If these sounds were not there prior to the change then re check your work.
If all looks well it coulod just be the added rpms equaling more vibrations..

So they are 9g weights. So 27g. And I have inspected the vairiator and transmission area all looks good. But is still ringing/vibrating only on acceleration for just on second. sounded a little worse when i let my big friend ride it. but the same with me. And was defiantly not making the sound before I removed the other weights.

27gs is ok but your rpms are still going to be a bit high if you got a tach.
