China watched this month as the nation's first lunar rover rolled across the moon's surface.
It was a moment of national pride when images of the six-wheel rover, dubbed Jade Rabbit, were transmitted live back to Earth, showing the red and gold Chinese flag on the moon for the first time.
Japan just doesn't have what it takes for state of the art technology any more. Their scooters and motorcycles are as advanced as they are going to get and the chinese keep getting better.

WOW..you are just begging that one guy that lurks around here to fight! LOL
All in all Japan is the leader in most aspects of technology and know how to build vehicles, computers and pretty much anything else. Their cars and bikes run well but are mostly of a homely sort and in my opinion not worth the tradeoff. If I had the capital Id buy a bunch of Japanese and China scoots and transplant the motors into one another so that the scooters ran as well as they looked and sell them. In the meantime ill keep wrenching on my China scoot because its easier than cleaning puke off a Helix.
We will probably find out one day that when we get to Mars that the japanese have already wired it for WIFI ;D

In all fairness I have to sat two things. 1) We went to the moon in 1969 before the advent of mini chips and high volume computers. All it took was money and big rockets. The Chinese have 45 years of technology more than we did. 2) At the moment space travel is an expensive, Trophy program. Don't forget that India has sent a probe to the moon. The Japanese aren't into trophies or national pride. They're after profit. If it pays they'll do it.
