I just bought a 2011 hornet off of craigslist for $100. The previous owner said that it sat for a year or so. I emptied out the gas tank, and cleaned the carb and bowl. So far it would crank but not run, I changed every hose with new hoses changed the spark plug. Its getting a good spark and it has a vacuum but it seems as though its not getting fuel. I pulled the carb bowl off and it only has a small amount of gas at the bottom. I also cleaned both carb jets. I then put a hose on the carb fuel inlet and blew air in it, and found that it was completely clogged. I started to clean it and I broke the little metal piece that holds the float :l (not the rod). Where can I purchase a new carb? And do you think that was my problem? Also it would start if I sprayed starter fluid in the carb but then die.

It will run with starting fluid but immediately die, the most it has ran was about 13 seconds at FULL THROTTLE

Fuel filter, fuel pump or fuel petcock, cracked or leaking fuel/vacuum lines, and possibly the carb. Doubt if it is carb though, its not getting gas. Probably why it sat for a year.
edit: and see that the manifold is not cracked

The manifold has small cracks around it but I don't think its cracked all the way through. I will try the filters,, but I will add that the gas goes past the filters but stops at the fuel inlet nipple. Ill change those just the be sure though. I also changed all the lines out with new ones. The fuel inlet on the carb seems to be completely clogged, I put a hose on it and blew and also shot compressed air and it wont go through. Sadly I did break the little arms that hold the float in the carb so I will prob need a new carb, know any good place to get one?
Edit: I have the fuel pump and the lines are clear and the little part moves up and down when I suck on the hose

open the carb up and check the float valve and the passage that brings fuel in.

You can get a re-building kit with everything you need for $10.00 or get a new carb. The carbs you can get for 25-30 bucks on EBAY so it is up to you what you want to do. And yes if you blew into the fuel inlet and it would not blow through then the fuel inlet is clogged Now that you have it apart blow through it again and if still clogged get a thin piece of wire and run it through the inlet. Just so you know it makes a 90% turn fron the inlet down into the carb. Alleyoop Here scroll down for the rebuilding kit for your carb. www.scrappydogscooters.com/125_150_4-STROKE_PARTS.html

Thanks dude, I will definitely be getting that rebuild kit but one question. How do you get the fuel inlet valve off?

You do not get the fuel inlet off JUST stick the wire through it from the outside the carb OR from the inside of the carb and get whatever is in there out. Use a wire that can bend so it turns the inside curve and the wire should come out the other end. I have only seen the Fuel inlet passage clogged once before, but getting a wire in through there cleared the blockage. Alleyoop

Best thing to do is stick the wire from the side of the CARB BOWL most likely something plugged it that got through the fuel filter or if it was run without a fuel filter. So the clog is probably right at the point where it curves down into the carb bowl. So picking at it from the carb bowl side it should come out the fuel inlet where the fuel hose connects to. Alleyoop See where it says Fuel plunger that is where the fuel comes in from the fuel inlet on the outside. So since you have that all out you should see a hole right there.

WHAT!! come on man there is something clogging the inlet and a nice piece of wire should push it out. But OH WELL, a new carb will not be clogged.
What motor do you have look in under the front of the CVT on the MOTOR CASE the motor type will be scribed into the motor case. like 157QMJ 152QMI etc.. Alleyoop
