Brakes

I just remembered something from when I had my scooter out..People keep saying that the front brake gives you most of your braking power, but on my scooter, that is not the case. It's actually the opposite. The back brake gives me 80% of my braking power and my front brake can barely do anything in comparison. Does this mean there is something wrong, and should I check it out when I get it back from storage? If so, what should I do to it?
Also does anybody know where I can get a brake switch? The switch for my brake in the front is gone and doesn't turn on my brake light, and I CANNOT find one that fits the switch. It was a spring that compressed to make contact with the electrical circuit and trigger the brake light.

Yes, the front brake should give u ??% of your stopping power. When u get it out, check the pads and rotors, or replace the pads, bleed the lines, etc. But, not knowing what u got makes it difficult to determine which brake switch Check the list of vendors above for a start

Can somebody link me to a tutorial on changing the pads/where i can get some pads? Neither, actually. When my handle is depressed, it lets a small spring come out and make a connection. It is not a standard brake application by any means...

Maybe it is the barrel type...it just doesn't look like it would fit on my bike.

Do you have disk or drum brakes up front?
Another question: You do know that the lever on the right is front, the left side is rear. It's easy for new people to mix up since bicycles are opposite.

Need to know what kind of scooter you have YEAR AND MODEL and a picture of it would help. We are just guessing at all this stuff not knowing what you have for all we know its an old vintage scoot if more recent then most parts are pretty common. Alleyoop

Well, I can't exactly verify the types of brakes on it, seeing how it's in storage at the moment. All I know is that there is no brake fluid to change (that I know of). It's a 2003, and I have no idea what model it is. Nobody has been able to identify it. The front brake lever is on the right, and my back break is a foot brake. This picture used to be in my signature, but it got removed...

Actually, yes! It did help quite a lot, thank you usmcdoc. Also, thank you Alleyoop for adding my bike to my signature! So I guess I know why my foot brake is so strong now!
