Propane is what some Americans heat their homes with. We bought a 100 gallons in November for $214.. Early January we bought another 100 gallons- $350.. Now it is $400 for 100 gallons. It is all over the Midwest sold propane to Europe and now running short. They are rationing too- a 100 gallon max order is all propane we can buy. It appears to me, that the propane company knew they would run short, thus creating a price increase for propane, thus we make our propane companies more wealthy. Shoot, we can use electric heat cheaper. This affects me from spending much money on other things- like replacing a tire on scoot, putting gas in scoot, paying for Class M permit, saving for 49cc scooter, ect.. Even Walmart has sold out of electric heaters in this area. It is bad. This royally stinks.. We will switch to electric heaters and close off rooms this month. Can't afford $400 a wack..

Well, low this Wednesday is suppost to drop to negative 2.. The record lows are about negative 20.. Average highs are in 20's and 30's... But this winter, about every week, it dips to around 0.. It has already been a crazy winter without having to pay double or more, for propane. Knowing the prices are soaring around $4 per gallon, well it would be about $5 per gallon by the time our tank runs to 10%.

I have an all electric home and have been heating with baseboard heat. Last month was frigid I havent seen 32* in over a month. our bill for January was $248 and I don't think that was bad at all. I run my heat in the garage {Fan forced electric} at 50 air compressor plus normal activites in the house. To me the only downside to the baseboard heat in no central air conditioning and wifey complains about furniture location at times. The electric company gives us a better billing rate because we heat with electric.

For the past 7 years or so I have always contracted with my propane company in August to buy 1200 gals of fuel during the winter months. Between summer and winter the price fluxuates and has saved me as much a a dollar a gallon. They bill me everytime they fill instaed of all of it up front. Last August, I contracted for 1200 gallons @ $1.549. Sure paying off now, propane cost today is $4.449 a gallon. My supplier says it is coming down, was almost $6 a gallon a few weeks ago. I still have 540 gallons left on my contract so I should be fine for this year unless we have a longer winter than last year.
