The 50cc China scoot motor is possibly one of the best in the world. I don't think too many other scooters would run and function in that state. I gotta get me one someday.

That thing does look rough, but I know you can bring it back to life. Best of luck with it and have some fun too!

The beltxase was completely full of dirt to the point that you could not kick it over. There were actually roots growing inside. It had nearly no oil in it when I got it. The oil was gritty and had metal shavings in it.

you definitely need to replace the bell an the primary sheaves.. its a good project this winter... seafoam it right away.. check the diaphram inside the carb if its still intact.

I've cleaned the carb. Its an unsealed one. Adjustable and actually not in bad shape. Back after I did that before snow I actually took it down the driveway and back. My driveway is about 400 feet long. Got up to about 25 mph in that span.

Hey lantern,,,your going to rucktify this thing correct?,,,i tend to go a little overboard on my bike work,,,i'd tear that thing apart to every nut and bolt ,,,clean sand paint wire brush everything then reassemble,,new belt hoses ,,,,but that's me and i don't wory about it being" worth the effort",,,,you got it for next to nothing,,i look at it as a hobby

It needs a good washing. Except for the corrosion on the engine mos of whats there is dirt. I'll provably get it fixed up eventually. Really busy here right now lol.
The other day I did get around to adjusting the valves though.

I have had many scoots and motorclycles with aluminium that looked like that. What I did and it worked very well was to clean it first with Eagle One Rough Cast alloy cleaner and when I was happy with the cleanliness of it I would spray a LIGHT coat of Dupli Color cast coat aluminum engine enamel. Held up very well looked new and was easy to clean.
