I bought a SpeedCo replacement engine for the log splitter about a year ago to replace the aging Honda engine on the log splitter. LOOKED the same dimensions and alot cheaper. I insatalled the engine and dialed it in,it started without too much fan fare and seemed to run good. After about an hour it started to make noise and throw oil all over the place,I shut it down and to my sirprise the torque from the engine ripped the crankcase wide open. It didn't throw a rod or anything just put a 2inch high by 5 inch long crack in the crankcase. Went back with it to where I bought it with the receipt and they said it was out warranty. I tried to explain that I bought it as back up and just put it on. They wouldn't budge. So now I have to go thru corporate and see what they will do. STAY AWAY from Speedco!

It ruined my day! Now the fighting to see if anybodys going to make it right. Darn engine looks new and you can tell there is no run time on it. A quart of Brad Penn break in oil down the drain also.

It was fun project I put on a retro beach cruiser style bike.I rode it around the block a few times and sold it. It was project that was on the bucket list and I am glade I didn't pay $200 for it but to say I was dissapointed in it would be a fair assumption. I think the 80cc rating is optimistic. It looked cool setting in the garage and going down the street though.

Happened to me once at xmas time. Bought "IT" in Nov, took it back in Jan. They only allowed it due to xmas, and that was at the BX. (PX for Army folks, and NEX for Navy dudes)
Being a year old, I wish u the best of luck.

Thanks Dave I am going to need all the LUCK I can get. Nobody wants to make it RIGHT but at least I can set it up on workbench and use it for show and tell. What P.O.s me is that I went to great lengths to make sure it was lined up properly put a dial indicator on it and check the runout and shimmed as necessary. The good news is I went thru the old engine fixed the oil leak, tuned it up and put it back on and it runs grrreat.
