Hey man, glad to have you on board. Yes Lifans are really nice scooters and a cut above. We had a guy on the forum that turned us on to Lifans. Sprocket was a fine man and we miss him. If you're new to scooters please ask us before you make any big moves like an expensive repair through a shop or something like that. We have made all of the mistakes you can make so please ask us first. Oh, it was Cyborg that made all the mistakes, nobody else. There are no noobies here pal, never hesitate to ask a question or express an opinion. They are all valid and interesting. OK...valid....just valid....we're not saints around here. Just kidding, welcome to the monkey house. Huh? It's a book Cyborg...a book! Vonnegut...oh forget it. Have fun Mxmatt and PM me if you need anything around the forum. Rich

You'll love this quote Borg. "Erv Kanemoto stands head and shoulders above his peers. It's because he's standing on a bigger pile of broken parts."

Thanks Bashan. I appreciate the welcome. I've had my scoot since November. Already learning things the hard way. Thought I was doing everything right, oil changes (synthetic), gear oil, spark plug etc. Then at 830 miles I lost my rod's needle bearings. ? bought a 155cc piston kit online. Oops, my 1(P)57QMJ wasn't compatible (fortunate to return). I had already bought the upgrade Variator and sliders for the piston kit (installed). Bought the stock replacement piston and rings and got'r all back together. Now I'm chugging cause my sliders are too light or too heavy. I'm not sure which. I got all kinds of electrical probs. Lost my stator (8 pole). New coil and CDI. My most recent issue is my front turn signal will not take the LED replacement I installed. Rear turn signals took the LED's just fine? ? any thoughts? I posted about it in the 150cc section of this board. I'm looking forward to learning from all you veterans of scooter wars.

Would this cause the decrease in accelerationI'm experiencing?

Would this cause the decrease in accelerationI'm experiencing? heavier That's 14 gram sliders and yes, that's the cause. You probably had 13 gram rollers which fly out easier than a 14 gram slider. I think it was Alley who said that a slider acts like a one gram heavier roller, but I forget. (eg. a 14 gram slider is like a 15 gram roller)

I'll save you from one big headache. Don't buy a Yamaha scooter! You can't get parts for them! Chinese scooters are much easier to get parts for and better to ride than a Yamaha. I won't PM you because unwelcome PMs are considered spam and cause for being banned.

I think it was Alley who said that a slider acts like a one gram heavier roller, but I forget. (eg. a 14 gram slider is like a 15 gram roller) Kinda yes. What happens is that a slider reacts quicker than a roller, so if you go up one gram on your slider, in theory, you'll retain the acceleration characteristics of the 1 gram lighter roller while gaining the higher top end of the heavier weight. (Providing your scooter has enough engine to push a heavier weight.) Matt

wow, welcome back fugazil,, i knew i recognize that username, your last post was around May 2012.. since you were gone for a long time id like you to know that the Scootdawg forum has been closed due to some unavoidable circumstances, the owner Lee broke up with his girlfriend and since then he was nowhere to be found. i heard at one point he accepted money for the Manual for scooters maintenance or whatever but he never send the merchandize to the buyer. what a sad story, i can go on and on with the story but this is not the right venue. glad you're back!

For those of us with Facebook accounts Matt never left. He and I have had regular correspondence the last few months. Parts For Scooters has its hands on the pulse of all scooter owners and besides ridiculously fast delivery time and good prices they listen when you ask about parts availability.

Without the upgraded piston kit the 14 gram sliders are just too much. Reinstalling the rollers tonight.
