Big end that attached to the crank. I don't think the am soil failed me. I took it on a 20 mile freeway ride at wot about a week before. I was running super premium unleaded and added octane boost. Too much for this motor. Tough lessons.

Don't know if you realize ( was running super premium unleaded and added octane boost) that expensive fuel has less energy in it than plain old regular. Unless you have raised the compression that engine should have regular in it. The chinese say run premium because their gas is rated different. Their premium is about the same as US regular. Premium is to slow the rate of combustion and keep an engine with high compression from knocking and burning the piston. Knocking is detonation, gas burning before the spark plug fires it.

Nah,how do discuss anything with somebody that responds to a post runs Yamaha in the ground and then post he never heard of a rod problem with a China scoot.Oh yeah he thinks a dyno is to break an engine. Every engine I have had on a dyno was to make sure everything was right, tune it and see how much horsepower it made before we put it between the fenders. It saves alot of time with the pesky items that bite you when it is installed. Then we dyno tune it after it is in vehicle.

As it should be randy,,,you can do all your diagnostics to the engine while it's right there in front of you,,,it is the way to go,,,i rode yamahas for years,,,excellent machines,,,never owned a yami scooter tho,,,the vespa is my first stab at owning something that won't go 100mph since i had my first bicycle,,,geez even my dr350 will do a hunster, all tucked in and my chin in the gauges,,and hopefully a little tailwind,,,,LOL

As far as yamahas go I used to love them and had many of them. Then comes along this majesty. Poor design on fresh air intake among other things. Had to get mine bored. Then I wait a month and a half for the piston and rings for an engine that was in current production!

out of production is one thing..............parts for current items is a whole new nut to crack. Then there is the china stuff, most parts can be had next day should you like to pay the extra for next day air. The jap stuff was never that good and never will be.
