Just sharing. I like the the more modern white light as opposed to the warm white of the incandescents. Not sure I like the blue affect on the headlights, but they are very bright when looking straight on. Tail lamp is much brighter than stock. I also lined the license plate light housing with aluminum foil.

Hell Matt, I just saw that 100 people have viewed this post but not replied so I thought I'd throw you a line. I'm with you buddy. I'd love to go 100% LED. I'm waiting to hear how your quest to do the same works out for you before I make the plunge. I'm anxiously awaiting tales of your success. The common phrase among those of us in the engineering department at my last job was: "You get respect for doing it first, but you make money by copying that guy and doing it second."

leds are good for blinkers and tailight but you have to be careful where you use leds for headlights. in some places theyre illegal. its dumb i know because theyre so much more efficient. thinking of changing some of my lights to eld when they need changing. makes it so you dont have to pull plastic off as often.

I was thinking about this last night. All you have to do is order the correct voltage array and install them however you can. Since they are going to last a long time you could even glue them in place... I don't drive my scoot long enough at WOT to charge my battery and need a tender every couple weeks. This would solve the problem surely. It is actually very easy to order or make a driver/voltage regulator to power high power LED's also. You could order some CREE LED flashlights from ebay or amazon and use the LED arrays from them. A cheap way to light your tail lights and blinkers would be to just cut a LED Christmas light line up into maybe 6-12 LED's per string and hook them up to the wires going to the existing bulbs. Just experiment with min/max lights per string to find optimal brightness... You could then secure them into place in a pattern, like a strait line or a circle inside the light covers. It would look pretty nice.

The issue with LED headlights is that they require the proper reflector as well. The factory one is designed for a filament bulb of the proper design. The LEDs put the light source in a different location causing a different light pattern and color temperature.
LEDs have a narrower viewing area so in the tail/brake light application you limit it's visibility if it's not properly designed for the application. If in the left side of the lane the light is very bright to the person behind you but, if your in the right side of the lane he may not be able to see it at all.

Thanks for the link Doc! So far I have LED blinkers for front and rear and for the mirrors. They are working fine. Also, the LEDs int the instrument cluster, license plate light and running lights are great! But, I'm still in search of the right set up for my headlights. They drain the crap out of my battery. love reading abut your new scoot.
