You could not find a more knowledgeable authority on scooters than Tom, (Cookees}. I don't say that because I want to get another scooter next summer! Seriously he lives and breathes them. But I'll tell you something else, he loves riding them. Some guys sell them... he does. Some guys work on them...he does. Some guys ride...he frickin' rides! That kinda guy gets my attention and respect. He popped 1K miles on a Citycom in a heartbeat and then sold it to me. That's a rider folks, I've seen 1K take a couple years for some um...riders. I have no doubt the guy has racked up a boatload on another bike by now. My point is, he's a dealer, a rider, and a historian. These facts will only become evident when he sells me a bike at a ridiculously low price next summer. Listen to the man, he knows the industry inside and out. Rich

You replaced a crank and stator?! Hell, you're there bud! Quit listening to me rant. Good man, GY6 mechanic! Rich I did. Tore the entire motor apart with the exception of the gear box without a manual using videos from YouTube and Googling everything. I learned a snit ton of info about my scoot doing this. I was patient and took my time. Wish I had found this board before I started. I figured since I had to go all the way to the crank, I may as well do things right. However, my first big mistake was not measuring the bolt holes for this big bore kit and just assuming it would fit. (Fortunately I was able to return the kit for a full refund minus shipping and I opted for the stock replacement piston and rings, which BTW, on my scoot are 57.4mm and not 57mm) Take away? A 157QMJ is not a 1"P"57QMJ. My second mistake came when I ordered this Koso Performance Variator (115mm) and 13gm sliders for $74.99 to handle the big bore kit. Unfortunately I didn't measure my stock variator and it was already a 115mm. Once I got the scoot back together and running, the stock piston and rings didn't have enough umph to get me going with the sliders so I left the Koso variator in and replaced the sliders with the stock rollers. Power restored. Take away? Measure, measure, measure before you buy parts for your GY6 motor. My third big mistake was getting antsy after reassembling the motor and wanting to turn it on too soon. With a fully charged battery, I cranked it over but had forgotten to connect the main ground wire (green) near the stator housing. I cute little stream of winding smoke soon joint my air space and I believe that is when I fried the stator. At least, the stator no longer worked at this point. Come to think of it, this may also be the reason why my regulator/rectifier took a sheet as well. On the positive side, I did install this performance coil and this performance CDI as it was relatively inexpensive and it seemed like the right thing to do. I'm not sure I have noticed any difference, but I am hoping to notice something at some point. If nothing else, they look "cooler" than the stock parts. Take away? Its fun to blow a little money on parts just so you have something to do and talk about. My favorite "stupid cheap waste of money probably won't work" add on so far is this security system I bought on eBay. My wife laughed her head off when she say my scooter keys attached to the remote. It is battery operated (9v) so it doesn't draw on my stator and is pretty dang loud. The alarm will sound for 20 seconds and reset. Not going to stop someone serious about swiping my ride, but between this, the padlock on my brake rotor and the steering lock, it should slow someone down or draw attention to what they are doing. Take away? Scooter security doesn't cost much. Next up? I hard wired this cigarette lighter/USB port directly to my battery terminals and installed it inside my glove compartment. It works great and keeps my cell phone charged. I figure in a real pinch, it could run an small air compressor long enough to give me some air pressure. Take away? There may be an end to how much I can add on to this scoot, but I haven't found it yet. And lastly, I removed the stock instrument panel lights and replaced them with these bad boys. I posted about this in another thread. I really like the look of the pure white as apposed to the incandescents' color. Take away? You tell me.

geez dude what are you doing here? you got it goin on....and i like the white dash lites also I'm hear cause I have lots to learn. Granted, I am a quick study and fearless about trial and error. In the short time I've been here I've learned way more in less time than trying to go it alone. Hopefully my sharing didn't come across like I know it all. my father was a mechanic and he taught me a lot about car engines. I've had a dirt bike for years so I'm not empty handed, but I'm new to the GY6. My real weakness is electrical stuff. Nuts and bolts and I'm fine, currents, volts, resistors, etc. is where I get hung up.

Har! Great narrative bud! It makes you wonder sometimes about performance parts. I've assigned Cyborg to analyze all of the data to date on BBKs, CVTs, um...CY?....Hey! Can somebody find Cyborg?

Haha! Cy is around. I just saw him on another thread. You make a good point about performance parts. Educate me. BBK AND CVT?

It still works just fine wit da wire runnin through it. It let me be lzy. It works great and is out of the sun and rain. I'm looking forward it installing this volt meter when it arrives from said near eastern country sometime next month!

I tell ya, Matt kinda creeps me out, you think he's not around and then suddenly he posts and you get the feeling you're being stalked.....silly...I know.... ....Matt? Um...Oh well. By the way Matt, if you think Cyborg took that correction nicely you are dangerously wrong. I made ONE comment in '93 and he is STILL stalking me. Bring it on man, I am ready for the final confrontation!! Universes collide!!
If I can quit being an idiot for a second, MX that meter you posted will do fine in a DC circuit and since it's LED or LCD (doesn't matter) the current draw is not significant.

Bashan, It's obvious to me that I am missing a lot of the common board humor. Being a newbie and all here. I'm really grateful for all the help and I'm sorry if I don't get some of or play into the funny. Actually, it just acured to me after re-reading your last post that you may be referring to both a Matt (not me) and MX (me). Am I right? Cant wait for a volt meter so I don't have to get one out from under my seat, turn on, remove battery compartment door and connect to battery terminals. Thanks for confirming for me. EDIT: fugaziiv = Matt, MX = mxmatt
