Hey guys, Just curious what tools you carry with you on the road. I have a tendency to overdo things when it comes to being prepared, but I don't want to carry more than I need. What's in your tool kit?

1/4" and 1/2" drive ratchets with extensions and socket sets that must include 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 17mm, and a small plug socket unless it's the Moto Pegasus and then an 18mm plug socket. Needle nose pliers, small and medium vise grips, and a multi bit ratchet screwdriver. Zip ties, a spark plug, a coil, a CDI, some electrical tape, some wire, and a wire tool. Yeah, I'm OCD, but that kit really doesn't take up a lot of room especially if you have a trunk. The extra coil has saved the day many times on multi bike outings. It's not the primary winding that fails, it's the plug boot. Carry one or two and eventually you'll look like the stud muffin when you save the day.

I think as time goes on you'll learn what you need. Each bike is individual and has different needs. I have the cheap toolkit and a cell phone. I'd like to think that every time I set out I have my bike prepped for the day. A weekend trip might be another matter but a run to work and back shouldn't require a load of tools.
There's somebody here who carries spare plugs, a belt, a crap load of tools and other paraphernalia even though he trailers the scoot and then rides around the block. That doesn't show much confidence in the equipment.

The tools i mention are the permanent on board at all times i also carry and use a large messenger bag for me personal and i carry 2 flashlites and some other assorted small tools i have with me at all times,,and when on a longer trip in the canyons,,2 liters of gas in a sealed sig bottle,,i keep my machines in a pretty high state of tune so the only thing i've used for myself is the tire plug kit when i picked up a screw or nail on the road

I have no tools in the riva, the majesty has what ever came with it and I have never used the tools out of the pouch. The chinese 150 I wrecked has never had tools in it out side of a philips screwdriver. I do carry a tire gauge in all though. Since tire gauges tend to vary a bit I think it best that you keep its own gauge in each scooter. If I did long trips I probably would carry some tools. The longest trips I make are maybe 2 hours. My back complains after a half hour.

I just like to be prepared, even in town. I don't plan on taking it on a trip of any length for at least a few months. I'd like to get to know the personality of the scooter before I do. I'm sure it will have its own set of unique gremlins. Even in town though, it's still a pain if you're broken down, especially if something as simple as a hose clamp could have put you back on the road. I was hoping you guys could give me some ideas that wouldn't have otherwise occurred to me. By the way, the TaoTao gets delivered this afternoon so things are about to get interesting.
