...you go to replace your sparkplug only to find the old one is finger tight? so i was finally gonna replace my original crap plug to a ngk and find it loose. Oil/gas and crap all in the threads and on the base around the washer. dont know how long it was like that. it has 625 miles on the clock. hope i didnt hurt the threads...

SOme people dont realize new plugs have a crush washer that needs to be seated initially.

Is there some special trick to putting a plug in, twowheeler? I put an NGK in my scooter yesterday. I removed the old one and replaced with the new. I threaded it in the hole and tightened it down with a socket wrench somewhere between "pretty snug" and stripping the threads.

Did you put it in? SOme people dont realize new plugs have a crush washer that needs to be seated initially. No. Never checked it before. Crush washer was a really cheap thin one. The plug was a TNG brand that said 'made by star group' on it. Cheap cheap cheap.

When I reinstalled this one just to keep dust out and I snugged it and it had ' that feeling'. Hope the head threads didn't get damaged. It was I guess just beyond finger tight because it didnt loosen til I put a ratchet on it but I think gravity on the ratchet handle was enough to loosen it. It didn't leak enough to cause a hissing on compression or anything.

To put in a plug you screw it in until it stops, that is when the squich washer has hit bottom then you give it 1/2 with the wrench to squish the washer down. Alleyoop

Dang, is that what it really says on the box?? I have never read what is on any of the plug boxs just the plug number that I need and have been putting in plugs in my hotrods and cars for decades. Alleyoop

I always put a little Never Seize on the threads also.

fingertight plug is fine as long as its a 4stroke engine, if its on a two stroke, engine wont fire up. i thought you guys knew that? you need to ask me before you even post this thread.

Are you drinking fermented cactus juice again?
You leave a plug finger tight and the vibration will start it shaking around and eventually blow out the threads-on anything. But hey, here's an experiment you can perform. Put the plug in your Morph and ride to San Diego, without the trailer. Let us know what happens.
