I'm not new to scooters. I'm on my second one in 5 years. I have a 150cc Hyosung. I'm wanting to do some upgrades this spring. I'm looking into upgrading the CDI, new spark, newer carb, and air filter. A few questions though. Is the newer air filter worth the upgrade? Compared the factory big box. Also what will the newer CDI do for my scoot? When upgrading the carb, what jets should I be getting? I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere. Thanks.

None of what you want to upgrade will do anything to the scoot. It is just like giving it a tune up that is all. No performance gains what so ever. So if it is running good right now do not waste your money. Now if you want a little more top end speed or better acceleration then you have to do some changes to your cvt. Alleyoop

Yeah man, it's a Hyosung, what do need to do? That thing is probably fast as crap to begin with. Is that even a GY6? Here's a thread on performance. Here's an article on rejetting. On a GY6 the stock is usually 104 or 107. When I would put a Uni filter on I'd usually go up to 110, sometimes higher. If you do upjet buy a jet kit with a lot of different jets so you can keep fine tuning. However, why don't you try raising the needle one notch and see how that does?

Listen to alley! Wish i saved myself all that trouble. Work on that CVT thats where all the performance will come From. You wont increase power or top speed but you can adjust how quickly you get there!!

Well need some info on how it currently is running and the RPMS that is it running at those speeds. And what are you looking for different from how it is currently running. Quicker getting up to speed a little more top end, where do you live is it hilly and it slows down quite a bit going up hills etc.. Alleyoop

My 150 purchase cost $649. plus $120 shipping. I very much enjoy the build almost as much as the ride so as I ordered the Scoot I also ordered the following upgrades and installed them once uncrated. 115mm Variator. Belt Clutch Bell, ( Needed the cooling holes burs cleaned up using Dremel. Ventilated Belt Cover CDI Ignition Coil Iridium Spark Plug Removed EGR assy. and made my own Block Off Plate. Removed Air Box and made my own Intake (Likes at least 6 inches in length).Up jetting required (forgetting exactly) to 112-115 main and Upped the pilot. Foam Air cleaner with Pre Cleaner. Crank Case ventilator/Check Valve. Synthetic Oil in Gear Case. Very happy with these upgrades, Feel She's a fun reliable Scoot.
Have purchased over the Winter a 61mm Big Bore Cylinder, Piston, Gasket assy. +2mm Stroked Crank Shaft, Checked for True, is within .001 run out. 61mm Combustion Chamber Big Valve Cylinder Head. Several sets of Valve Springs. Low-Mid Range Cam Shaft. High Volume Oil Pump. Just need to decide on a Flat Slide Carb and Either Gut the stock Exhaust or purchase after market Exhaust. Was hopping to complete this BB this winter but may put it off till next Fall and just enjoy what I have now. Ride On!! Clone
