When I was riding my Honda Shadow Sabre, I waved at everyone. 'Most' other riders waved back. When I was on my Goldwing, I waved at everyone, 'Most' waved back (but ALL Goldwing riders waved back)
On my scoot NO ONE gives the sign. (Two fingers down, meaning keep your wheels/rubber on the ground/road)
I had one sport bike guy start to wave (cause the front of my scoot looks like a sport bike) but when he saw it was a scooter, let alone a trike, he quickly put his hand on the bar and speededed up.
As is the way with the entire world. We have gone sooo far to the left, I don't feel we'll ever get back to normal (whatever that is)
Ride safe
Dave And, YES, I ALWAYS wear my helmet, jacket, gloves, but sometimes wear shorts, with my sketchers. Sorry, (Ankle high boots would NOT have saved my leg when I had my accident)

I ride all the time, if it's not raining I'm on the SYM. So does KZ, Alley, JR, Cyborg, TW, shoot I'm leaving a bunch out. Sorry. Those that don't ride constantly have iron butt miles racked up. Now, I'm going to try and not start a battle here so let me say....the guys that do not wave back are wearing black with orange patches on their shirts. These are also guys I have not seen all winter as I ride in 15+ degrees to work. This is my wife's observation when we're out and she is as sweet as a human can get. And, they also do the wave and pull back which I find just about as disingenuous as a human being can get. As CD said, we're all on two wheels, the wave is a way of saying "I'm here bro, I know what you're doing, it is so cool, if you need help, I am here." If they don't wave, they are pretenders. They can also kiss my arse. Rich

Here in New York I get waved back to usually no matter what I'm on. It's attitude guys. I give the low wave and most everybody waves back, except those darn scooter guys. It drives my wife crazy. She says nobody waves at her on the Rebel. They do when I ride it. If you emanate the "Wave back to me MF" aura, you get waved back to.

I dont waive because I refuse to ride one handed on a scooter going 30 plus! Nothing personal. I could just raise my hand a bit but I usually dont do that either. You can ride a full size motorcycle safer one handed. Makes me wonder...are they just waiving to try and kill us all off who ride scoots??

Dude. You've said this before. I ride my 10" wheeled 150cc at 40 mph+. I wave. The gyroscopic effect of a spinning wheel is what keeps everybody upright. You have concerns, fine, but the pure science involved is wrong. Nobody is trying to kill you off. If your next line is "And what happens if I hit something that deflects the wheel" that can happen at any time to any one on two wheels. Both Virtuous Saintly Scooter Riders and Satan's Hated Motorcyclists.

This reminds me of the man who opened the door for the feminist. She immediately went on a rant that she was an able bodied person who had no need to be objectified and treated as the weaker sex. After she finished, he simply looked at her and said "I opened the door for you not because you are a lady, for I have no way of knowing that, but because I am a gentleman." I don't wave because they are "real" riders, I have no way of knowing that. I wave because I am a rider. Or I'll give a tip of the head, if I'm busy. And, often, either on the scooter, or on the 1200, I'll give a thumbs up to the smaller scooter rider who is actually dressed to ride.
