Not to throw any more gas on the fire with another question,,,, would it not have been easier to helicoil or insert the head? ,,, sorry I can't think of the name of the insert but they are better than helicoil,,, damn this gettin old sh!t is for the birds

17 foot pounds on head torch sounds right I know it shouldn't be much but not sure. Good luck on repairing you engine.

I use a chopped off ratchet with a 3.5-4 inch handle. gets it tight but your not gonna strip anything with that.

You must of been really wrenching it down to strip a spark plug, and In would almost question your mechanical ability to even be fooling around with replacing a head; but mistakes happen. For future reference a spark plug has a crush washer, so once you get it snug its just another partial turn to lock it in to place. Were not torquing bolts that are holding a bridge up for christs sake, its al loo mini ium.(british accent)

Working on the motor taking stuff off and or putting parts on You need to do it when the motor is stone cold. So when you torque things down they will seal really good due to when the motor heats up the parts expand. You torque things down when hot then when the motor cools off the metal retracts and you now have loose parts and maybe leaks. Alleyoop
