Went out to ride the scooter yesterday and it would barely start. Once it does start it bogs down very badly and puffs blue gray smoke. I adjusted the valves, put on a new carb, adjusted new carb, and it still does the same thing. There is a very bad pinging sound coming from the engine. Any ideas? like i said, I adjusted valves to proper setting, then put a new carb on and adjusted it.
*edit* this my my wildfire 150cc scooter.

Ow, pinging is not good, blue grey smoke is not good.
Survey: Are you good with a wrench? Ans:
Yes: check your compression, if it's below 110 you either broke a ring or a valve seal is trashed.
No: Check on Ebay for a complete engine.
Seriously, you combine those two findings you gave me and it is usually catastrophic. Blue smoke is burning oil and pinging is metal components hitting each other. Sorry.

that's what i was afraid of, stinky. I just wanted to get a second opinion. I just really don't even want to deal with it anymore. I'm going to sell it and buy a 250cc or above motorcycle. I used to love these china scoots but this really puts a bad taste in my mouth. I only owned it for three months before this started happening.

I removed my spark plug while it was hot and put it back in and stripped it and it made a clicking pinging noise but no blue smoke.

I checked and rechecked the vales so that's not it. i appreciate it though.
Yes, i am. Someone is coming to look at it tomorrow and hopefully buy it. Already eyeing a few motorcycles.

Last time I heard a pinging sound in a moped engine it was from running out of oil and some metal ball was floating around in the crank case. "in reference to the scooter engine".
