Recently my scoot has had problems staying charge at random times. ive tested the battery and it holds almost 13 volts easy for two days. I saw something on you tube about your voltage while the engine is running should be 12-15 but never more than fifteen. If thats true then what problems could that cause? and What is the best way to fix it. i havent blown any bulbs. no fuses are blown. Is it the regulator rectifier? The engine is a 1p39qmb. Thanks for the help!

Batteries loose their charge just sitting there. What is the voltage after two days of sitting?
A battery will also loose charge if the scoot has an alarm, or digital clock built in the the instrument panel. Alleyoop

is over fifteen volts normal? No if it is charging over 15+ volts it is overcharging and damaging your battery. That points to a bad Regulator/Rectifier it is not regulating the DC voltage. A optimum charging system is 14.5-14.7 but really anything over 13+ volts is okay. Alleyoop

I had a scooter in the shop with a charging problem , it was not charging . I figured out it was the regulator I replaced the regulator . Then had the same problem then it started to charge . I found the headlight switch was shorting internally loading down the charging voltage . Very strange problem .

The trick is to check what the output of the R/R is NOT to check at the battery terminals. That would have told you the R/R was good that it was something else drawing to much juice from the battery. Alleyoop
