finally sunny again so back to work on the scoot. replaced all fuel & vav lines with new, one at a time so I didn't mix them up. still does same thing, cranks but doesn't quite catch, no fuel going into filter. all I can see left as possible reasons is petcock is bad or tank is clogged going into petcock. does that sound about right? starting to get really frustrated

This is the PETCOCK that is attached to the tank. Take the fuel hose off the FILTER and find the Vacuum line going to the PETCOCK and apply suction to the Vacuum Line you can use a BASTER if you have one or suck on the line. When you do fuel should come out of the fuel hose from the PETCOCK. This will tell you if the PETCOCK is bad or it is clogged up inside the tank. YOU NEED TO DO THIS TEST: Alleyoop

Ok, I've got fuel going into my filter now but she still doesn't start. It's doing the same thing it was before. So what else can I try looking at to fix this? Spark plug is new btw, old plug was carbon fouled. At least plugs look the same and work the same going from 4 wheels to 2.
As for the other 50cc Roketa, I haven't decided yet if I want to fix it or keep for parts, I may save it for a winter project.

no idea, how do I check he compression on this scoot? That's something my mechanic brother took care of for me at his job when I could still afford to own a car. So I have no idea what I'm looking for by putting my thumb over the spark plug hole.

Well my scoot still isn't running. My brother had to borrow a vehicle to come over and he checked what he could but his knowledge is more more car oriented.
She's getting a good spark. We took the auto choke off and it is in the closed position but since we can't get it running, we can't see if it will open properly.
CDI has been suggested by a guy my brother knows who works on his own ATV, is that a possibility? I'm gonna try to get a ride to town to get a volt meter so what all can I check with that?
This is getting really frustrating and my landlord is starting to get pissed. Says I need to get it fixed soon or get rid of it. I live out in the country and the only people that see it are us, landlord and their other tenants in the next trailer.
If someone can explain how to post a video, I'll use my camera to grab a short video of her trying to start, maybe that will help diagnose the problem.

Welcome back geenseeker. Did you check the petcock like alley posted? It could be clogged. If you put a new plug in your bike is gas getting on it that will tell you that your carb isn't clogged at a jet. I don't believe it is nothing to serious I think you just had some bad gas that got in your carb. When you ran it empty.

Take the video, transfer it to a folder on your computer. Go to Youtube, click upload, browse to the folder, open the folder and file. When Youtube is done they will give you a URL and simply paste it in your post.
If you have spark I really doubt it's your CDI. That is what generates the spark. Have you set the valves and checked fuel supply? Rich

I can see fuel flowing into the carb when I suck the vac line & when I try to start so fuel flow is good. Will get a video & upload it. Cleaned the carb and everything is clear there. It wasn't run empty just low but could bad gas make it act up like this? If that's worth a shot I'll get a gallon somewhere else and drain it and try to see if that fixes it.
I got gas at that place before when I could still afford a vehicle but it was the low grade & my truck ran fine. Wouldn't think the higher grades would be watered but who knows....

I don't believe it would be watered down gas but who knows? When you drain the tank you will be visibly able to see if crude is in there. You'll get it keep up the good work. Mx matt had a lot of problems with his scooter and finally today he reported he's got it under control and running well. Alley or bashan will get you squared away. Keep trying to get it then your land lord will have nothing to complain about.
I would imagine those kittens are getting big also.

Did you set the valves yet? I might have missed that. You have to start taking things off of the table and narrow it down or you'll be running in circles. Spark, compression, fuel....got to have those three. You have spark....boom....done. You're getting fuel to the carb, is it getting to the combustion chamber? Is the plug wet, can you crank it a while, pull the plug and smell gas? I'm not a big fan of the finger test but does the engine pop your finger off of the spark plug hole when you crank it? We are circling the problem but not moving forward. Rich
