What I see as even big issue than the zip ties is the use of ONE screw in the back to raise it up. This will lead to that board splitting in half length wise. He needs another piece of wood mounted with glue and screws it's grain in the opposite direction to elevate the back end and then more zip ties to hold the back end down. And then just as important to seal the boards with paint or varnish. Of course this will double the cost but, it is very very important. I thought about that. Thanks. I used the same setup on my last scooter. I put several thousand miles on it, passed hundreds of cops, and never got pulled over. In fact, I once talked to a cop. He stood next to my scooter and asked me about it. He did not mention the milk crate at all.

It is fuel injected. Do I need to adjust valves?

My Buddy 170i right mirror vibrates a lot when idling which makes it hard to see cars approaching behind me. How can I reduce the vibration?

Large zip ties are rated at 175 pounds each. Cops use them as handcuffs during riots. I am using six of them. If you saw my setup in person, you would be impressed.

A fancy rear case is not big enough for my camping gear. A milk crate holds a giant army duffel bag. If I didn't do long road trips, a rear case would be adequate. This was my last scooter.....

As a back up safety method, I can put a duffel bag in the milk crate, and then tie the duffel bag to the scooter, using the same principle as this.....

If I cared how I look, I would not be riding a scooter in the first place. I am all about function not form.

Today, I changed the gear oil and motor oil. The old gear old was pasty and very thick. Also, adjusted brakes, inflated tires, trickle charged the battery, and bought insurance. It's time to ride!

Thanks JCT. Was owned by a timid female rider, which means it wasn't ridden at WOT. Will continue breaking it in properly, changing oil every 200 miles for a few times.

Okay, it's not new, but it has only 311 miles on it. 2012 Buddy 170i. She wanted $2,900. I talked her down to $2,000. This scooter is quite an upgrade from my 1988 Yamaha Riva 125cc with 26,000 miles on it!
