Guitar man. I chuckled before I continued reading where you said " Yeah, I know I left that wide open..... " My mind is probably dirtier than most men lol. Drahken - they probably understand the middle finger in English lol Guitarman you could ride around making a living doing that here. Many people ride around and make a living doing things selling/cutting coconuts, fixing bikes, fixing scooters, fixing jetskis, ect... a friend of mine who is a very bold no holds barred writer, wrote this article about professions in Miami. I love it and couldn't agree more.. www.miamibeach411.com/news/question-never-ask

Nope, not going to live in a place that is wall to wall people. Myself the nearest gas station is 5 miles away. Nearest Walmart is 15 miles away and any major shopping such as Kohls, Penneys, etc. along with cafes like Applebees, Chilis, etc. 35 miles away. ------------------> I like BEING around wall to wall people but not LIVING around wall to wall people. I live in North Miami. I don't share walls with anyone, its quite and my neighbors homes are not right up against mine. I love it, but I like to be around a lot of people (where the action is ) when I " go into town " LOL (meaning go downtown or into south beach to work or play) I did live there anymore and although I do miss living 3 blocks from the ocean, clubs, any anything and everything to do, I don't miss the noise) So although I'm a city girl, I like more space and quite when I'm home. Neighbors? I can see 3 and I have to walk a ways to talk to them. My dad's idea of a good neighbor? Someone who doesn't bother you, good advice IMO. ---------------> ha ha I agree. I have a few neighbors across the water from me and I rarely see them in their back yards. I never see the neighbors on either side or across the street. We speak Arkie here, which is a mixture of English and Hillbilly, if you are other national origin and don't want to speak Arkie you'll quickly be told to get out! Don't like the Razorback and can't call the Hogs (pig sooooie) then you might find yourself helped to get out! -------------------> LOL ! Last census of Arkansas = a little less than 2 million and about 1/2 million are retirees from the north who learn Arkie real quick and keep their mouth shut on where they are from! --------> heh when people here say where they are from about 90% day " NY " LOL. (of the ones I come across daily that say they moved here) But we make it better than those dang Bama people! We do wear shoes! ----------------> heh. I don't even wear shoes. Even in NY carefully climbing over snow.... " flip flops for life " LOL

wow. I'm impressed by people that can speak 2 languages fluently, let alone more. homestead is south of me I have friends that live there and its about a 1.5 hr bike ride for me. back to the cost of living in different places. My friend was excited to score a parking spot on Ocean Dr for $400 a month. I told him that some places in the country you can rent a tiny house for $500 a month. He said no way. Some places in Miami $500 is the monthly fee for a parking spot or monthly fee for jetski dockage ( yup a tiny 10' jetski ) I had to price hunt about 50 marinas to get an affordable spot for mine. Luckily it's the closest one to me also

Heh. Miami is the worst traffic I've ever seen. You don't need to speak English to drive here. If you go to motor vehicle to get your permit they offer you a manual in spanish, english or creole lol. scary. there are reasons i bike and ride my scooter on non-busy roads I was raised by my grandfather who was a contractor and he taught me how to fix pretty much anything so I enjoy taking things apart, fixing them, building etc.. I used to paint and do dry wall.

Well I took the compressor out of the box and its not the one in the add that had decent reviews. I wasn't looking to spend a lot on this thing so I selected: www.walmart.com/ip/Motor-Trend-Cpm-0610-110-Volt-AC-Home-Air-Compressor/23841746The one I got looks totally different than in the picture, has half the length air hose and power cord and looks like a cheap plastic fisher price toy. I turned it on for a second and it was so loud I'm sure it could be heard up the street and sounded like a cheap motor hitting cheap plastic. I held it against my face while on and it felt like someone blowing on me. The box says inflates a care tire in 4 min. I'd be shocked if it inflates a scooter tire in 30 min. and I'm not even going try for fear of it not working. I don't want this tire even a tiny bit off the rim for any longer than I have to. The only thing I can imagine it being good for is blowing up a beach ball or a cool air hair dryer for a hamster. LOL. this is what they sent me i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjAwWDYwMA==/z/qMQAAOSwQJ5UUF8X/$_35.JPGIt looks even cheaper in person. So I'm returning this thing and I ordered a better one. I sent walmart a quick message about sending the wrong thing after I realized it happened to someone else in the review too and it wasn't just a one time error. Damn it. I was actually in the MOOD to get this down on my scooter and that's rare. I decided to go with this. I didn't want to spend a bunch on a compressor I'll use once or twice in life so I went for one with good reviews that will also jump my jetski battery if needed ( they charge $50 at the marina for this ) and you can plug things in if your power goes out ( good for phone charging, computer, tv for a little bit during weather emergencies / power outages ) . www.walmart.com/ip/Wagan-400-Watt-Power-Dome-Jumpstarter-with-Air-Compressor-and-5-LED-Utility-Lights/10928402Okay so when the new compressor arrives I'm going to make myself get it done 24 hrs from the time it arrives. No excuses

Okay so made myself out out at 11:30am with fuel line clamp in hand. I figured i'd disconnect in the middle ( between filter and turn off switch so I don't have to fiddle with the ends that connect to the tank hose and the carb hose. I take the top off the scooter, look in and the fuel filter is now full of gas. I haven't turned on the fuel switch, the scooter or touched the scooter in a few days. I guess it was a slow drip into the filter.
So now either I'm good to go and things will get flowing once I'm driving around... or... the filter will empty and gas will refuse to keep coming down.
I'm going to keep the seat loose, only take him on short trips and keep checking the fuel filter for gas flow (it's the only clear thing I have in there since I opted for black lines)
I'll have to take apart the fuel line as I had planned on doing today if it doesn't continue to flow.
So problem solved for this very moment but keeping a close eye on it.
Now .... to get myself to want to work on replacing the valve stems (another thread )
Once I get that done , the battery charged up and the new battery lock put on I'll be done fixing and replacing things on this scooter at least for right now.

Haha. Not a debate, just thoughts on rent vs own and and cost of living in different areas So you guys are both from a " country type " background. If 1 is total country, nothing around for miles and 10 is huge city... I grew up in a 7 and I now live in a 9 (i'd only consider NYC a 10 and chicago a 9.5) I like a lot of people around especially tourists because I love helping people find places on south beach. My goal is to figure out the gas line issue by noon. Haven't gone out there yet

That's funny because I find myself saying " omg I love metro " when I'm getting all over Miami fast with the metro system.
Wow a 14 mile drive to school! I went to a school that was about 500 students for 7-12 but it was a 14 min WALK away.
I'm off to bed. Night scooter heads

Went to Florida two years ago with the wife on a I want to put my feet in the ocean vacation. One week was enough for me to know I don't like sand, the ocean and having to figure out that Arkie slang and whatever they speak there doesn't mix well. -------------------> heh, they speak many things here. I have sand in my toes daily and love it Too flat and I like a break from the heat and lawn mower, plus our snow is a once or twice a year make a snowman type with less than 12" normal and it melting in 2 to 3 days. ------------------> flat is good for biking far quickly and easily for me & my rent includes the gardeners that deal with the mowing and landscaping. Cool that you don't get a ton of snow. I know there are MANY places that I could get far more for far less cost but I love it here so it's worth it to me. Never have seasons there. Like right now it's fall here and the fall colors are breath taking and it's till warm enough to go scooter riding and enjoy them. ----------------> i liked the fall colors when i lived in NY but I don't miss them. I sit in my porch swing every morning with my coffee looking a the mountain every morning. ----------------------> that sounds beautiful. I have mine looking at the ocean. Too many people in Florida. The Miami metro-plex alone has more people than this entire state. I'll stay in the hills. ----------------> lol @ metro-plex. When I'm downtown I take the metro-mover, metro-bus and metro-rail. I love metro, tons of people and big city + lots of heat. That's where we differ. I think you're a country guy and I'm a city woman

Good info JR. Ya Miami Beach and areas close to the ocean are expensive. Studios rentals run $700 to $3,500 a month to rent. One bedrooms rentals run $900 to $5,000 a month. In my Miami Beach the average home (single family, not condo) is about $500,000 for a 3 bedroom 2 bath and the taxes run about $20,000 a year. No interest in trying to afford or pay that and no other place I'd rather live than Miami Beach. Sometimes I ponder the thought of Malibu Beach or Key West but Miami is where my heart is and has been for even 7 yrs before I moved here. Crazy expensive but I love it so much here and don't want to be tied down to a house. Hell I won't even do a 2 yr phone contract. I like to have the option to get up and move to another place when I feel like it without having baggage. Most people see it as an investment but to those who don't like to be tied down its baggage. Different strokes for different folks Beautiful photos there but I never want to live in a place where the average temp is at least 80 year round. I need heat and to be able to bike to the ocean 24/7 I need to start my day like this every morning I'm from NY. I'll never do cold/snow again hehee running slow talking about getting his back on the road after neglecting it longer than I did due to moving, etc... is what turned the convo from scooter to moving and places people live Hopefully I'll have good news with the fuel line issue tomorrow On a side note, I wish I could type out a smiley face on this forum and get one that doesn't wave ----> LOL

That's cool. My favorite way to purge would be if Humane Society Of Greater Miami had garage sales (i'd donate to give back what they gave me ) - two healthy dogs. They do so much for animals that don't even have homes yet and they are no kill. My boy had about $5,000 worth of surgeries before I adopted him and my girl had about $2,000 into her. I wish they had more trhift stores where the $$ goes to animals. I had the idea of opening a trift store called Second Hand Wags but don't have the time or money to do it. A friend of mine is interested in taking the idea though Also if I could sell things on ebay without shipping being $$$$ id sell a bunch there. I bought something from china that was $1 to ship to me. If i shipped it back it would be $15! Geeeze. So I just have more than I need for now. I went from a $700 studio in south beach to a $800 studio in miami beach to a $900 1 bedroom house on water with a yard for $900 in North Miami and I'll prob stay here for a good 5-10 more years. I love it. Its way more quiet than miami beach and I have a great landlord. The key to getting an affordable rental house where you are not sharing walls in Miami is to find a property that has a big main home but a guest house, in laws quarters, etc.. separate behind it and that's what I scored after looking forever. Its about 40' behind the main house and I have plenty of privacy. Thank God electricity, trash and water is included since my AC has been off for the first time in about 10 months this past week lol. I have no interest in buying. I'd rather not be tied down to a house and the taxes and insurance on a home here ( something you don't get back ) is the same as rent ( something you won't get back ) so I'm happy renting. Maybe in 10 yrs I'll move to Cali or further down into the FL Keys

Thanks. I'll check it out. When I moved from my apartment in Miami Beach to my apartment in North Miami where I am now I was able to get the scooter up the ramp into a uhaul truck by myself and put it between two couches that were back to back to secure it lol. I had to put a tiny piece of cardboard wedged into the top of the ramp to make the bump at the top less severe so I could get the scooter in, but it worked I can see needing storage going from a bigger place to a smaller one. I went from a studio to a 1 bedroom. If I ever lived with someone we would prob need a storage spot, large shed or one hell of a garage sale.
