It's been a while since I created this post and a lot has happened since then with me and my scoot. I've gained a lot of knowledge from this forum and also the "It's The Ride" forum, thanks to all you guys. I've also come to realize that each of these machines can react differently to changes you make in their set-up and you really have to do what suits you and your particular machine. I was having a problem with my scoot burping @7200>7300 rpm's or at least that's when it would occur. I was trying to stay within a certain recommended range of jet sizes while trying to set my A/F mix but that didn't work well once my rpm's reached the range I mentioned earlier. I mentioned I had a #118 installed when the problem occurred and I was unsure about stepping it on up to the #120-122 range, well that's what finally worked. Before that 7200 was as high as it would go because it would run irratically after hitting that point, yesterday it ran smooth throughout to about 8500 rpm's, then I backed off. I ran the set-up with the #120 and I have not had a burp since, during this trial and error period my gas mileage had dropped to about 65-75 mpg's. Now I'm back up to 100-107 mpg's and my top end has gone back to 65-70 mph. Of course I've played with the variator and the weights, my stock variator was upgraded to a 115 and my stock rollers were 13g's, but I installed some 15g's after I got her running good and she really seems to love that weight( I'm still experimenting with it but for now I'll stick that weight). What I've really learned is that CDI's, Air Filters, Ehxausts.., any changes in these may send you back to check your Carb set-up to accommodate any imbalances in the A/F from your add-ons.

I have a pair of Pirelli SL-26 and I well over 5k miles on them and they look like they could last a few k more. I also got some of the Ride On tire balancer and sealant, the places around here(if you can find one) that may change a scooter tire over won't balance them and I find this stuff works great. I got mine from BikeBandit.com, although there may be other places it can be bought, but my tires are in great shape and they ride really smooth. For a scooter you can purchase 2 bottles @ about 13 bucks a bottle and that will cover front and rear tires. I love my Pirellis', they stick in the curves and give you nice sense of confidence that they are doing their job, even in the rain. Just my opinion.

Check to see if they have a ramp kit, I bought one from Lowe's, it's made by Ramparts. They have board length recommendations depending on the weight of your ride. Mine is about 300 lbs., so I used a 6"x2"x10' board. I don't use it anymore, I caught a sale at a local bike shop and bought a folding aluminum ramp, the ladder style crossbars provide more secure footing and a strap to secure it in place on the tailgate. Good luck.

i have a 150cc Bashan that has burned out 3 mufflers before I became familiar with this forum. After reading some of the different threads I came to the conclusion that this thing was running really lean because my mufflers would burn out right where the header pipe connected to the muffler body. I originally had a sealed carburetor, A/F screw plugged and the bowl was riveted, so I got a new one. I had a performance exhaust and a cone shaped air filter, I jetted the carb up to the #110 size and it was doing fairly well but I was still getting a little burp at WOT and Top End. Well one day after tinkering with it I didn't tighten the air filter all the way and it came off on a ride out. I went the next day and picked up a Uni and installed it, I knew I was going to have to do some tweaking with the A/F mixture so I ordered an additional pack of jets and also a TTO tachometer/hour meter to help get it dialed in. Since then I have stepped up through all the jet sizes I ordered and am currently running the #118, it's getting up to about 50-52 mph(GPS), but I was getting 60-65 before and I am still getting a little burp @7280-7300+ rpm's. I can roll back the throttle a 1/4" and the rpm's go up a little on the tach. I am also thinking about getting a new clutch and variator because the TTO is at about 2700 rpm's before I get any clutch engagement, but I digress. My question is should I continue stepping up the jet size, the pilot jet is a #35. I've sprayed the hoses for air leaks and could not find any, but when I leave work I am going to get some cable ties and replace the spring clamps on the vac lines just to be sure. I've done the pull the plug test after installing the #118 and I am still coming up lean. It has just over 9000 miles on it but is on it's 4th muffler, any advice?

I'm gonna have to get the taste of crow out my mouth on this one. You were right on this one Alley, your instructions on the valve vent hose were correct. After installing some new parts I took it out for a test and it died again, so the next day, after work I did some troubleshooting. I got it running and let it idle for 5-10 minutes, then checked my fuel filter, next I sprayed down vac hoses with carb cleaner checking for leaks. I was about to start looking at electrical connections when my brother in law touched one side of my coil feed wires and it almost died, Eureka! One of the connections was really loose causing it to jar loose from vibrations and give me a bad connection. It's running good for now, still need to tweak the new carb, I'm having a backfire issue, but I did reinstall the fuel filter on the valve vent hose and no issues, Thanks.

I tried putting a fuel filter on the valve vent hose, after going about a 1/4 to 1/2 a mile my scoot shut down twice. I removed the filter and it has been running fine. My problem is, it seems there is some oil that is getting through the hose. As soon as my air filter and carb come I'm getting rid of the air box, so I can't reconnect it to the box. Any suggestions?

Any Trans you would use Gear oik like 80w-90 or 75w-90 etc for rear ends. As to how much is a question you will have to find out. When you drain it, measure how much came out and put in about 2 more OZs than what came out. They don't tell you how much it holds but it does not hold a hell of a lot since it is a Splash System. The Drain bolt should be Under the case and the fill should either be on top or high on the ond of the sides. You can usually tell the difference between the Oil Fill and Drain bolt from the bolts that actuall hold the case together . Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop, when I get brave enough to remove the carb, I'll try removing the plug.

I was going to check my A/F setup, but my carb has a plug over the location where the A/F screw should be, any advice? I have a 2014 Bashan BLX (TPGS-809) 150cc.

I had the exact model CDI installed on my 2014 Bashan BLX 150cc. Could this be the source of my issues with my scooter backfiring on deceleration & bogging some in low to midrange throttle i.e.coming out of corners? I have put over 5800 miles on it, but never had issues with it backfiring. I am trying to learn to work on some of the minor in things myself, I got it in October of '14 and finding a mechanic to maintain it has been a daunting task. I once took it to the original dealer to get the muffler replaced and battery replaced and they kept it for a month, muffler was wrong style for bike and they gave me back my old battery with a charge, needless to say that's the last time they'll see my scooter. I tried a local mech, but he doesn't keep many parts in stock, I can understand that there are many brands of scooters and managing inventory, but no headlight bulbs. I stumbled upon this site last weekend and have been going through the threads and I'm hoping to gain some valuable knowledge from you Scooter Masters.

Is there Much chance at all my stock CDI is REV LIMITED ? If so, is there Much chance the Blue Performace CDI like on ebay could help?
