Haha, I win, I WIN! Pretty darned CLOSE, jct842 ! Beside the ocean. I live 3 short blocks from it and bought it from my neighbor, upstairs. And this is why I sold my pristine vintage Mustang when I moved here from the Desert 18 years ago. I couldn't stand to watch this salt air get to it. Thanks, for the advice on the penetrant. I'm going to make good use of that!

Oh, I haven't bought a seat yet nor have I sat on the bike at all. It's been pretty stripped for a while now. I can't even put the panels back on after spending two weeks cleaning, sanding, and painting, until I get a few things done first. I'm painting "Rust reformer" on there now. Here's what it looked like, yesterday on my patio. I talked to Scrappys about it and he sent me a pic of the underside of the seat and it looks like it may be correct. What do we think? scrappys seatThe pic he sent me... My seat hinges and area (Before the cleaning, lol!)

Well dagnabbitall !
So, I buy that caliper and the seller doesn't answer the questions I sent him until AFTER he marked the item shipped, telling me that it won't work for my scooter... " it wont fit. your caliper are design for small dirt bike, this big caliper is design for big moped scooter" .
This is after I sent this yesterday... "Hi there. I'm considering your caliper here. The scooter description is what I have and the "65mm" spacing seems right for me but, I'm unsure about the mention of the "44mm" measurement in the listing. Could that measurement possibly be incorrect or measured from the outside- to outside of the brake pad stay/guide bolts? When measuring center to center on mine , I get only 40mm's . I'm attaching photos annotated with my measurements for illustration and, in case , if this one does not work, perhaps you can direct me to any other listing that you may have, that will ? Thank you, very much."
I told him that mine was a large scooter and "can we hold off until we figure this out?"
I so hope that it fits and he/she is wrong. I'm so tired. Perpetually covered in rust, and so tired, lol! Not for long, the rusty part. I got half the scooter painted over with "Rust reformer" today.

Okay so, I ordered the new one that Alley linked to.It seems that his stock of 3 are the last ones left in the whole wide world, lol! I couldn't get good enough info on that used one, either. So, gone is the "NOT-ABS" Whew! Thank goodness, because it does save me from having to remove it from the old caliper too. I had walked away from that for a while, to take a breather from frustration. Today, the "Rust reformer" goes onto the frame

If and when you get this caliper source sorted out,,, do yourself a favor and get a tube of copper based antisieze,,,a little dab goes a long way and really helps keeping bolts / screws from freezing Oh, I'm glad you reminded me! I have a tube in the locker that I meant to lay out so that I would remember to use it Squash washer, check! The (NOT) ABS... When I was browsing here on brakes last night, I looked into that cylinder and I'm pretty sure it was jct842 that I read, saying it was crap too. I read an article that he posted and it pretty much confirmed it, too. I will gladly leave it off, once I can GET it off, lol! cyborg After that story, I will do my darnedest to omit that thing, even without Coronas to celebrate, lol! Thank GOODNESS, the brake line will connect directly to the caliper without me having to track down a fitting or anything . Every step of the way on this seems to be loooong and contingent on something else. (Thus, the bike is still stripped to the frame mostly. Putting the panels on is what I'll save some Smirnoff's apple Twisteds for. HEY, I'm a girl! I like those flavored things! Lol!) Alleyoop , that Corgi illustration got the point across perfectly, and I truly did laugh aloud, thanks! Tranny oil and acetone , yay! I'll make some! I only use WD-40 for minor things and have liquid wrench for penetration Thank you all , for chiming in

I've been scouring over that listing and I'm confused ,evidently. The 65mm measurement seems to be good but, assuming that when measuring bolt to bolt, one would measure from the center of one bolt, to the center of the other bolt, here are the measurements that I get... The 65 should work here as the bottom measurements mount to the scooter and I would be re-using this bracket... But where is the "44mm" measurement coming from that I keep seeing on listings, including this one? Is it pertaining to these stay bolts? Center to center is 44mm for me, on mine. I'm just trying to get my brain around the specs I'm seeing out there because, there doesn't seem to be any uniformity to anything that I'm seeing, and trying to make darned sure before I make this nightmare any worse. Center to center...

The bracket came off a lot easier than I thought it would but, yes, that cylinder is giving me a very hard go of it. It's sitting in penetrating oil now, before I give myself an aneurysm. No work bench, vice, spiffy tools. Just hand tools and a patio.

Thanks Alleyoop ! Can you glean any insight on that first link item? I'm paranoid that I'll spend money on the new one only to end up in the same boat when I try to transfer that cylinder from the top of the caliper. I'm hoping to line up some options . What is that, by the way? ABS?

Hi folks. Thank you, for any help here! So, I've been going through the brake system on the front of the 2008 Jonway yy150t-2 and one of the caliper guide pin bolts for the brake pads was so frozen in there that after 2 days of trying everything from liquid wrench type lubes, heat, cold, banging it with a hammer, different hex wrenches... it stripped inside the head. I drilled out the head and down the center to get an extractor in there and yes, it broke in there. I got some vice grips onto it between the two brake pads, it's a no budge situation. I've found a couple of used calipers listed on Ebay yet, answers to determine if their caliper will fit on MY bracket, are very slow and mostly, lazy .Even for new ones, I'm having a really hard time finding input on what ones will work for my scooter and bracket. I have measured center to center the caliper to bracket mounting holes (64-65mm). I'm reaching the limit of what this scooter is even worth considering, I still need a seat and a tire for sure (Another $100 - $120) so, I can't just throw money at and "make a wish" that what I order is correct. And at this point, I really need to find the best pricing, new OR used. Even the new ones that I see, may be oriented the same as mine but list no specs, even though the same listing always warns you to check your specs before ordering, insinuating that they are unwilling to accept returns . How in the world are MY specs any use if the sellers don't list theirs and take forever to answer a request for info ? Even when they do reply, they don't know much of anything helpful. And in the listings, either the bracket isn't pictured because it doesn't come with one, is different, or doesn't clearly show the bracket to compare mine against. Is anyone here familiar with the compatibility of the calipers? I found a couple, used. One is said to come from a "2008 SUNL 150CC Scooter, with 12" wheels " www.ebay.com/itm/171939823520?item=171939823520&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtrThen theres this one... from a Jonway that I'm not sure if it's the same as mine. I dont see "MC-13" referred to on any of the identifying plates on my scoot. www.ebay.com/itm/310715011732?item=310715011732&viewitem=&vxp=mtr If I could even be SURE of which new one would be correct, I may go that route too . I KNOW there are some very helpful vendors out there but, I'm not running into them on THIS lap around the track. Here's MY caliper...

Agreed. I took a spill many years ago accelerating into a turn when a nail entered my rear tire. The road rash was horrendous and I was so lucky that that was all I suffered.

Yikes !!! Gear? I don't see any. Geez, I'd hate to be in that moment, waiting to become the main ingredient in a metal/pavement sammich like that! I wonder what he was doing. He's surrounded by scooters.

Hi all! I hope that everyone is having a good time during these holidays I'm wondering how Alleyoop is healing up with that hand too? I have been chin deep into this scooter for what seems like forever now, in between being called away to life's other things. So, I thought I'd check in, browse and also update on where I'm at with this right now in case, there's any interest. So if you recall this scooter... It's now pretty nekked ... I've finally finished scrubbing, sanding, painting and clear coating all of the panels . It looks more like I'm assembling a "StormTrooper" doesn't it? ( I was concentrated on getting to this before winter hit full blown as, I don't have a garage to paint in)... I've got the front rotor soaking in apple cider Vinegar, to remove rust. I'm waiting on some rust converter that I ordered, to paint onto the frame. I'm still needing to go through the front brake system to see if I can get that working and/or salvage any of it. All of the light circuits etc test well and surprisingly, the bulbs do as well! My Variator is still waiting for its new rollers to be put in and a new belt to go on. The kick start gear still needs to go on too. Eventually, I'll need to pull that rear wheel as, it needs a new tire, for sure. I'm cleaning things up as I go, contacts, dirt, rust, old grease , spiders and eggs, pincher bugs ... I got this shnazzy skateboard deck tape for the footboards too.
