Thanks everyone for your help!
Alley I have ordered the Pirelli sl 26 from Motorcycle Superstore.
Switching gears to the mounting. I have found two local scooter stores that will mount it when it gets here. My question is is it worth balancing a scooter tire during the installation? I have a 250 cc and can see myself riding at 65 mph often. One shop charges $25 with no balancing while another charges $45 with a spin balance.

While that was a good read Alley, none of the tires in the article are available in scooter size. All are for motorcycles. I did look closely at the tires available from Motorcycle Superstore in my size. Does this one seem to be the best choice for my needs? www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5900/i/pirelli-sl-26-performance-front-rear-scooter-tireIt is a few dollars more. I want my body to stay off the road. I have high heat and wet conditions.

Alley, what would be a tire that was more "grippy" than the Shinko?
JCT, what makes you say that the Pirellis help with you not sliding?

Thanks Alleyoop. That is a pretty good experience with the Shinko! A great endorsement.
Anyone else have any experience with any other brands?
Alley how is that Shinko in the heat and the rain? (I get 48 inches of rain each year and the pavement gets hot).

Thanks Alleyoop.
I am not set on that particular tire. I was throwing it out there because I could use some input regarding the experiences people have had regarding the various tire brands. It would be nice to hear someone say I used Pirellis on my scooter and they weren't good because....

Does anyone have any experience with the various brands and models that worked and didn't work? I will ride on paved surfaces almost exclusively, in a lot of heat and with a lot of rain. Given the amount of work involved in changing the rear tire I can see wanting to make it last a long time so you don't need to mess with it for a while. We trust our lives to the gripping power of these two small wheels a good grip is important. A smooth ride would be nice. How would this tire be for my needs? www.amazon.com/dp/B001Y423JM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3IYIGGS7WPPXV&coliid=I2A6GTHDIVJUPC&psc=1

Interesting perspective jct842. How do you balance them after you change them?
With all the experience changing scooter tires do you have any insight into what would be a good make and model for my situation?

I watched the videos Alleyoop. Thanks. Looks "fun".
Cookees did you charge $40 to take the whole thing off the scooter, or just to change the rear tire when someone brought the rim in?

On my JCL MP 250A I need to replace my rear tire. It's made by Yuanxing and the size is 130/60/13. Any thoughts on the best replacement model and size?
Also does anyone have any thoughts on how to find someone to replace it locally and not damage anything?
How hard is it to remove the rear wheel to take it to get changed?
Thanks for sharing more of your wisdom!

Yes I will. It will be a bit before I can get back on it. I need to connect the rear latch completely and turn the side latch around before pulling on in.
Hi Bob! Got any more good threads I should look at? I can just ask Alleyoop.

I agree. I still have to finish putting the new cable on the seat latch at the rear.
What I don't understand is where does the other cable go and what does it do?

The first picture is the new Roketa latch. The second picture is the old JCL latch.

Here are two more pictures, both of the side latch. The first is the old JCL latch. The second is the new one from Roketa. They are different. That doesn't mean that the new one won't work. I still don't see where the second cable would go.

What I still don't understand is in the following picture for Bob's post: i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc200/bobfe/Scooter%20seat%20latch/Sidelatch400cammarked.jpgWhere does the other end of the second cable connect to? From my most recent picture of my seat latches you can see I have a cable with 3 ends. I'm guessing one connects to the side latch, the second to the rear latch and the third to the lock. Is this correct? Great memory Alleyoop. Same scooter, same name, same problem!
