Well, mine I wouldn't say was "hung up"... per say.... Since I got the scooter... It just doesn't immediately respond to say, a fill-up. But, as soon as I start it up and go down the road... the gauge would settle into the right level....from the vibration of just the engine running and driving. I lucked out... I didn't have a sensor that was hard stuck...and as the fuel level goes down... the sensor keeps up with the level....

Relay arrived today. Ordered on Jul 22nd, it shipped out 23rd, and arrived today 25th. So that supports your good impression of them. olivertwisted I ordered the coil sunday... so expecting that maybe by this coming Saturday... May or may not get to the coil on Tuesday, as need to take family friend to a doc. appt. But hopefully not too much other than the coil and relay to get the engine started, and change the throttle cables (pulled out, new ones not physically ran yet) and then I'd like to be able to start the engine.. that will be a boost to motivation! When that happens, if it runs then I'll run it on the center stand for awhile and work on things like flushing the coolant, considering changing the coolant hoses... they didn't leak in the two years since it has run, they are OEM ad it would take some figuring out what sizes the hoses are... also not a 'have to' but would like to slide the tank or lower it so that I can adjust the play in the fuel level sensor.... those things and I think I can start putting plastics bank on.. see what fasteners I need to aquire vs what I have on hand.... But nice to see if it starts.. then the rest should be easy... cloudsifter

Ordered this coil on ebay on 7/25 Sunday..There were slightly cheaper ones, but would possibly have shipped from China. I wish on ebay when you filter for "US Only" that the china ones didn't still show up. I have heard that sometimes ordering from a china ebay seller can result in them getting to you within a couple of days just like a US seller... but the gamble is at the time you order, they don't have any pre staged in the US, so I went ahead and ordered with a US seller that has alot of sales showing for the item. www.ebay.com/itm/301405078585?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Thanks for the confirmation @jr . That is the one I purchased earlier yesterday. You don't have to do research for me on the coil, I have looked around several places and have a few options, but, if you have a source that you know would work...I'm happy to take a look at it for the coil as well. Right now, the ones I've bookmarked are... That same seller has a coil for $10 www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Coil-Kawasaki-ATV-BAYOU-220-KLF220-1988-2002-/280649392170?hash=item415801e02a:g:g6sAAOSwcF9UXVmI&vxp=mtrOther sellers $17.95 www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Coil-For-GY6-XV250-Baja-Linhai-260cc-300cc-ATV-Quad-Moped-Scooter-/321933151137?hash=item4af4b60ba1:g:h5gAAOSwf-VWWT4c&vxp=mtr$18.00 www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Coil-for-Yamaha-Linhai-250cc-300cc-Motor-ATV-Moped-Scooters-/301405078585?hash=item462d248439:g:IwoAAOSw0vBUb6agLots of other simliar available. Since some give the measurements of the lenth of the wires... I'm guessing it would be good to measure mine and also the dimensions of the coil and the way it mounts to try and get an exact fit? I appreciate all of the responsiveness here in the forum. I know some were members of the Scootdawg, It's the ride, and now this forum... and I've been going thru them and making myself a bookmark file of parts and how to's and sources of info and parts... maybe if it's possible to export just that portion of my bookmark file sometime and post it, I will. Found the tire upgrades I spoke of up above- on my amazon past orders. At this time the Shinko Rear tire is $39.42 (was about $33.xx [Shinko SR007 Series Tire - Front/Rear - 130/70-12 , Position: Front/Rear, Tire Size: 130/70-12, Rim Size: 12, Speed Rating: P, Tire Ply: 4, Tire Type: Scooter/Moped XF87-4211] before tax and I have Prime... so shipping was nothing. To find that same tire in Amazon search just put in B001CD8PTW Front (can be front or rear) is $58.88 [Michelin City Grip Premium Scooter Tire Front 110/90-12] and you can find it using B005J88KXM in the search.

I have thought about bridging the relay. Hadn't don't it yet.
As for the tires - I can't remember what I upgraded to a couple of years ago. When I look maybe I'll edit this post.
Actually in Texas up until March this year when I moved to Albuquerque - bike sat on concrete driveway, or concrete garage floor.
It sat on concrete pad here in Albuquerque in the backyard until a couple weeks ago when I moved it onto the dirt/sand so I could have shade to work on it part of the day.
I will make sure tires are not dry rotted before I ride. They are upgrades as recommended in the old Scootdawg forum that I put on myself along with the kurvygirl valve stems that bolt in. Much better than the OEM rubber ones.

Bashan , JR , Alleyoop , <- tagged as well because might have an idea. Hopefully I won't have 'too far' to go on redoing things before it's running...When I had to set it aside in 2014 it was only because (I think) the CDI going bad issue. Heats up, sputters to a stop... cool down few minutes...could start and go a little further.. but not 'as' far... so to go 2 miles it took several cycles of that process. I did not really know of the cdi issue at first... so ordered and replaced the fuel pump with a mikuni and new fuel lines and filter. That didn't fix the problem, though overall, I'm sure is a good thing to have new pumps and fuel/vacuum lines. Also discovered somewhere about the CDI issue, ordered one and set it aside to replace. Same time all the plastics and seat was off...discovered the answer to why my throttle felt a little weird in the handle...sometimes...At the carburetor as one of the cables comes out of the sleeve it's in... it's frayed. Ordered a set of cables from what I thought were the right ones online, but it was quickly obvious they were not the same...Called up Sunright and ordered a set of the right ones..probably was less than $20 for the pair. Those came in. I put all this stuff aside as I had other things I had to tend to... and 'life' and time passing does it's thing... So, FFWD to March, moved from DFW area to Albuquerque where temporarily I live with my son and his wife. Just starting to work on the scooter as I have the time and inclination. It's either early in the morning right now that I have to work on it, or after 4pm when the hot sun passes a certain point and I have shade from the house to work on it. I removed the throttle cables yesterday...will put on the new ones soon. Also, from the beginning I had the gas gauge issue where it wouldn't go all the way to full when I filled it up after using a couple of gallons. It 'would' go to full and stay accurate from the vibration of the bike once I started it up and left the gas pump. So, if I can, the intent is to slide the gas tank bank and take out the fuel leve sensor and do the fix I've seen in the forums and in youtube videos. I removed the bols/nuts securing the tank yesterday, and need to temp. remove a fuel line to the top of the tank as it hits a cross member and makes it where I can't slide the tank back to access the sensor. Going back to the original subject in this post...I've been looking around for this relay online and I come up with several choices... The original part number from Here Starter Relay Diamo DIA-05-028-2404 is not that easy to find anymore... Mine looks more like this at $59.99 with the allen head screws www.ebay.com/itm/like/141754695866?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=trueA google search for - linhai 300 starter relay solenoid - brings up several options that look similar... but they have nuts/studs vs allen screws for connecting the wires from the battery etc. such as this www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Solenoid-Relay-FITS-KAWASAKI-BAYOU-220-KLF220-1988-2002-ATV-NEW/290695061314?_trksid=p2352135.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3D3e45af6da2aa4c76827313ec6de23b71%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D7%26sd%3D191835628530So, I'm wondering if they are the equivalent at much cheaper... Any thoughts? Thank you. James Bashan , JR , Alleyoop ,

cyborg olivertwisted jct842I made a post earlier following up, and for some reason it didn't post... To clarify.. the scooter was NOT underwater... the Starter relay which sits in the area of the battery tray...was sitting in some water that had accumulated in the battery tray- for awhile... seats and plastics off of the scooter... the scooter itself was not submerged.... Thank you for the reply and pictures, olivertwisted.
For anyone coming along - 2008 Linhai Aeolus 300 as in the title. Cylinder is horizontal.
Also additional info I remembered.
Part of the time the scooter was down-2yrs there was water standing occasionally up by the battery (covers off) and the start relay (?) was partially submerged and I imagine that I cannot count on that having been water right.
There was a schematic in SD forum, but somewhat blurry when trying to enlarge it. I reached out to the OP of that who 'might' have as mentioned in that post, an enlargable version. As with us all 'life' happens and it's been years, and with a computer crash - they may not have that anymore. Totally understandable.
[EDIT: I did find the 250 wiring diagrams in this forum. So, they should apply to my 300. No longer need that]
So if anyone else has it - that would be great, too.

[Updated the title of this thread 7/29/16] I'm working on getting my scooter going again after sitting for about two years and a move to Albuquerque from Dallas.
I've got a new battery and am going through checking fuses and cleaning contacts. Lights work with key on, switches on the handles pretty much work, kind of scractchy, will clean with contact cleaner and replace if neccessary.
My question is- I know that a brake handle has to be engaged in order to start. However, at the moment, I have all of the brake fluid out of both master cylinders. Squeezing either brake handle with key on, kill switch set to run, and pushing the start button- the starter does not attempt to turn over.
My question is- Is fluid required in the reservoir in order to turn the starter motor when the brake lever is depressed?
Second Question- I took out both diodes down b the fuse box, and stuck an ohm meter on them set for diode... and no matter which way the polarity was... the diode did not open. Both read open in both directions of polarity... Not sure yet if I need to replace those...but not sure of a part number on them either.

For my 2008 Linhai Aeolus 300 (I realize make/model doesn't set the tire pressure) I found in the past after adjusting the pressures 1psi at a time- that 28 Front, and about 33 Rear seemed to be the sweet spot for me.

Just wanted to take the time to say that somewhere in this forum or other related forums, I came across JR recommending Apexbattery.com . I want to say that I ordered a battery from them for my 2008 Linhai Aeolus 300 Link to specific battery and their service has been great so far. I messaged them using their contact system to ask what the warranty period was, and they emailed me back that it is 1 year. Their site says typically their batteries last 3 times the warranty. I'm sure that can vary with usage and whatever the user uses to maintain the battery when not operating their scooter. Battery arrived sufficiently packaged to protect it, and I was happy not to have to add the acid to it like the original battery from China. On the package there is a color coded from red, to yellow to green with voltages listed as to what the charge level should be. Before slapping it on the charger- I hooked a multimeter to it and it was right up there in the fully charged range. Hooked up my shumacher charger to it , put in the type (SLAB) and that it was a powersports (3A) type. Charger went a couple of minutes and had topped off the battery. I haven't installed the battery yet as I am in the process of getting my scooter back in shape as it's been off the road for a couple of years. I had the issue that is (from reading the forums) likely the CDI (stock one) or maybe the coil, because when riding within a mile or so it goes warmed up and would seem to lose spark and just blub blub and quit... then within a few min... you could start it again and repeat the process, only it would die sooner within a min or two... etc etc. Anyway, the purpose here was to say I got good service. And, at this time the battery cost me around $16 and some change (plus I expedited shipping). This seems to be about 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of the equivalent batter at other sites... Amazon, or other sites. James
