Good morning. Thanks for the reply.
The mechanic told me that he did a compression test and it was very good. He gave me a test number, but I don't remember what that is. He said that a valve issue was not a concern with the results of that test being good. He believes it is the relay that I mentioned in my original post. Problem is that the company that manufactured that part, Piaggio, in Italy, doesn't supply that any longer. I'm now working on identifying the specifics of that relay and looking for a compatible replacement part. I spoke to someone last night and they said, "a relay, is a relay, is a relay....." He said to take it to an electronics part supplier and see what they may have. I'm also calling around to other scooter/motorcycle dealers.
This is a classic example of "buyer beware." I had no idea that the Schwinn name was sold over the years and that this scooter was going to be so hard to find parts for. Let alone any info. on it at all.
If you have any other insight into getting a replacement part please feel free to shed some light my way. My wife and I aren't giving up on this. The scooter is in great shape, except for the fact that it doesn't run :-(
Thanks, Ed

Hello all. We bought a used 2009 Schwinn scooter with 1200 miles on it. We put about 500 miles on it and it just died and won't start now. Just wondering how the carb gets it's fuel supply from the gas tank that is underneath the scooter frame. There isn't any gravity at work here it seems. Does the fuel vacuum valve really pull the gas up out of the tank to supply the carb? Just trying to wrap my mind around the setup with the fuel supply. Thanks, Ed
