So I took the last couple of days of from work to make a six day weekend to help my nieghbor start a project and to do a tear down on the scoot. Mainly to fix an oil leak and put in some L.E.D.'s and do a tighty on things. So here it is Sat. afternoon and I am inside cuz it is still raining Oh sure got all kinds of dirt moved from my nieghbors yard in between the raindrops, even made a run to the dump...But no workie on the scoot. I do not have a garage so no cover to work under. I did the ol tarp garage last winter to fix my trooper / Rebuilt top end...Had to ride scoot in snow. Oh that was fun. I vowed that I would not do the tarp thing or ride scoot in snow again...But if it does not stop up here at 2800 ft. I may just have to break that vow..Dont worry honey I would never break any of those Anyhow I am sure I will be complaining how hot it is in a few weeks..just kinda frustrated with the weather.

O.K. dude that is mean and cool at the same time...I think the same of the people driving around in big ol hummers. And Bashan I totally hear you on the subtle wave thing. OOHHHH I am sorry I waved at you on your big ol harley, dont humiliate yourself by waving back at some dude on a little scoot. WHATEVER....And no fair makin fun of the garb bro..I like wearin my board shorts. There is a pc cruiser up here that has a board on top and I laugh every time I see it cuz we are three hours from the closest wave..And that is just terrible for the board....talk about a hodad

What about buying a cover from Auto Zone or O'rielly's ( like a two piece ) for a seat and tuck it up to fit the scoot??? Not sure it would work but check the demensions...Actually sounds like something I might look into.

Hey Bong, Sorry I dont really have any suggestions for a site to get a cover. But for a hundred plus bucks it sounds like it is time for you to get out that sewing machine and visit a fabric store. That is what I am planning to do this summer.

Well I hope this is not your problem, but when that happened to me the electrical from stator had got tooo hot and melted the connector plugs from stator too regulator....I pray this is not yor issue...Did you smell burning plastic or rubber??? Might need to take off some plastics too see what is going on. Sorry there Kymest.. but you are going to have to get familiar with your scoot.Good or bad you are better off for that....

Hey Techno, I have a crack right in the middle of the top on mine I think from too many groceries on a trip to the store...Well it may sound kinda junkyardish, redneckish if you will....But I the same tried many glues before I just bought a roll of Blue Duct Tape from Wal-Mart....Cut and trimmed nice like It really does not look too bad...For what it is worth.

Thanx Jeff, Still waiting for parts to do anything. Got two belts inthe mail yesterday from the deal on e-bay..9.00 for a gates powerlink 856x23. I'm set for at least two years on belts. Look really good not dried out or cracked. Anyhow bike right now is running great other than the leak. Waiting for vacation week to tear it down....
Thanx K.

So I put in a new stator a few weeks ago...and now I have an oil leak on the right side of the motor ( tis a pet peve of mine ) So one can only imagine the frustration I am feeling...Put a little extra on the bolts this weekend and think I stripped one . So I ordered a new gasket ( used high temp RTV on the stator redo ) and new belt and led's for dash and am planning a tear down around may 27th...I am wondering if in fact I stripped the 8mm bolt on the case cover what size drill do I use to drill it out and what size tap do I use to put in a new bolt??? The other thing is do I use the gasket sealant to put in the new gasket or leave well enough alone...?

Grab a multimeter and start checkin stuff out like Cruiser says...Also there is a good post about RR's And stators called the Stator papers jrryan or even Cruiser could direct you in the right direction. Take the plastics off and see what you can find....Hopefully it is an easy fix for you....I spent a long time thinkin it was a problem with rectifier when it was actually stator...So I wish you luck on your vetures....

hey genest listen to the cruiser...just start the engine with the CVT cover off and the belt should go right where you want it to no problem at all......I have had the same feeling but not really a problem..It is all good..12gm sliders will give you great get up and go if that is what you are lookin for..If you have freeway or highway time then your top speeed could suffer a little if you are on any kind of incline.

Stators ?

Cruiser, I would first like to thank you for the ( I would say ) expertise advice..Right now the old battery is getting I believe 15.5 volts back. And of course you are right jrryan when the fan comes on it drops/ but only to like 14.. So this is really where I want it to stay..Especially when it gets hot. 105 in Chico is a little tough to ride in, but ride home is still 75+- 80 at night. So I will go back and check the warden's page for LED's both for dash/ Instruments and blinkers. I have had the faring off and still am not sure where the Instrument lights are but I will figure it out unless you guys have some pics on hand...Thanx Again

Stators ?

New stator in and orig. lights as bright as the day she was bought. ( which is saying a lot for these beauties ) Am looking at doing more LED add on's such as blinkers and dash lights. Already have replaced running lights and tail/brake lights, also am running an LED bar across the trunk. Looking for that visibility thing at night ya know....So here is another question for you guys??? If the stator is looking to unload energy, instead of returning it and heating things up/ causing meltdowns and such...Then why are we putting Led's in the bikes which run on less/ not of course mentioning the obvious, brighter lighting. By lessening the amp load doesnt this create more heat/energy for the stator and regulator to displace??? Yes the battery needs a good constant charge but after so much there is no where for this energy to go or am I wrong???

Stators ?
by: cptk - Apr 12, 2011 21:41:38 GMT -6
Post by cptk on Apr 12, 2011 21:41:38 GMT -6
So I was running 100 extra watts in driving lights for about a year then the battery took a cr-p....Go figure Lighting problems on a MC-250B...Any how lights latley have been lookin worse than a candle flickering in the wind....Gut feeling was look at stator...And sure enough #1 and #2 Pole Chared....Not melted just burnt. Tried to clean up gently to no avail...Wires broken and too thin from heat.. Question#1 What happens when you draw too much power from a stator? Question#2 How much voltage or amperage does the stator on these 250cc bikes put out? Question #3 Would a second battery hooked up in series help with lighting? Any Help/Advice or Explenation would be very appreciated....
THANX K.
