Change the spark plug. Check compression. I had a 50cc that wouldn't start and everything checked out, even spark. The plug was blowing out under compression and wouldn't start. New plug fired right up.

Check your brake light switches. If the light switch is broken the starter won't work with the button.

I would change the belt just to be sure while you're servicing the final drive. Also a better source for your questions is www.modernvespa.comThey know Piaggios inside and out.

Sadly, the original admin and site creator passed away. His co admin also passed away. The last Admin dropped out of sight, hopefully not of the living world. I took the job as Moderator when there were a few others. I haven't seen anyone else in ages. But hey! Come here, talk about your scooter and rides. There are several lurkers. Maybe you can get them to talk.
I just saw there were 738 guests in the last 24 hours so there's traffic here. Use the General Scooter Discussion area for general BS and to talk about your rides. There should have been a Ride Discussion Area but Rich never put one in.

Try spraying starter fluid into the carb when it starts. If it keeps running there's a clog in the carburetor and it needs to be cleaned.

Change the spark plug, honest. Then try spraying starter fluid in the carb and see if it starts running. If it dies after that check gas flow again, run a thin wire through the jets and check that the kill switch isn't in the kill position.

I don't know what happened. This site used to hum with activity. Between Facebook and YouTube videos people have floated away. There are more dealer only Chinese scooter brands out there and places available to repair them so there aren't as many people looking for information. It's too bad . It was fun reading about others using their cheap Chinese scooters to commute and run around the countryside.

If you were off by one tooth the scooter would run like crap. While it's out there maybe the oil ring is stuck and letting crankcase pressure build. The easiest test would be to pull the breather house out of the air box and see if it's blowing oil when it runs.

It could be an air leak somewhere in the exhaust. Is the pair valve line tight? It's the doohickey sitting on the valve cover.

First check the fuse adjacent to the battery. Do you have power when you turn on the key. Oh, check the kill switch. I had the same problem on my new scooter. I accidentally turned it to off the first time I bought gas. It happens all the time.

Check the crankcase seals. Air coming into the crankcase will start a two stroke revving like you describe.
