When you say you get engine braking are you saying you expect it to act like a clutch on a bike and disengage like you pulled the lever? Not happening. Engine RPM keeps the variator expanded and the clutch arms won't drop until centrifugal force decreases from rear wheel spin. My 150cc does exactly what you're saying. I actually was annoyed that it free wheeled at 10 mph and figured it was belt slop.

TIRES!!!!

JCT will probably protest but Bridgestone makes a pretty good tire. You can't get them anymore but I put a Cheng Shin on the back of my Scooter and Kawasaki. The Kawi lasted almost 10,000 and the scooter is coming up on 5,000, with a 10" wheel no less. Duro makes a pretty good tire. I hear Kenda isn't bad and Shinko is Yokohama and getting good reports. My Dad used Pirelli for years but admitted they were soft. You could see chunks of tire missing after awhile. I would never use Pirelli since I'm both cheap and lazy.

By and large most oils will work fine in these engines as long as you change it at sensible intervals. The "Use Motorcycle Oil" argument, while not harmful, misses out on one very important fact. Motorcycles use the same oil, except BMW and Big Harleys, to lubricate their gearboxes too. Molecular shear is a common occurrence where oil molecules are scissored or crushed by the gears during operation. Yeah, I know it sounds silly but people with much more experience and knowledge than me say so.
Scooters are almost like cars with separate crankcases and transmissions. Heat is the big issue and a good quality oil changed at sensible intervals is the secret to long life.

You know this just hit me. How about the coil or CDI overheating. They would take out the stator and trigger with the engine swap but not the electrical components.
I agree with these guys about checking the valves though. It's good to know how and a very good possibility.

Are you serious Luke? Show that picture of the ton of stuff you took to Amerivespa. Belts and clutches and nuts and bolts and tools and a spare engine. Just to roll the Tub off the trailer and ride around the corner. You are the last person to make wisecracks about spares.
And if she did get rid of the trike it's because she moved to California and the Clean Air Nazis wouldn't let her move in with it. Move there with the Morph and see what happens.

Just think of the compliments you would have gotten if you rode further than 300 feet.

Nope, I left it off. Call me a cockeyed optimist but I have faith that the scooter will start on the button. If the Japanese can leave kickstarters off their bikes, why not me?

I had a 50cc Lance that somebody moved the kickstart lever to the conventional, "Perpendicular to the ground" location. It started on one kick every time, OK, maybe two. At first I pulled the brake lever, then found it didn't need it. Since it won't be in the way, I would put it in the motorcycle position and try that. I couldn't get my 150 to start with it and took it off before I discovered the "motorcycle secret". I always thought I'd smack my shin on the way down and only gave a half hearted kick. Also no, or slight throttle.

What I find admirable in the Victory video is the choice of young lady. She's short, a little on the heavy side and quite well spoken. They usually use an anorexic waif with large, plastic breasts and a tank top two sizes too small. This girl rides, asks intelligent questions and is quite genuine. Not one silly giggle. Bravo Victory.

And Polaris book ended it with this. It's looking good for the Minnesota Company and Spirit Lake, Iowa.

I always wear my leather jacket, leather gloves, helmet and assorted footwear according to my moods. I usually wear workshoes since most of my rides are commutes. I have a pair of Engineer boots that I'll wear when I'm not doing a lot of walking when I get somewhere.
