Snowing here too. It's sticking on the grass and the cars but not much. Yet here it is, April 15th and snowing. It's supposed to be better tomorrow.

It's actually a spring and it goes behind one of the piston rings. You should find out when you take the originals out. My gut reaction is the bottom but it's been a long time since I pulled a two stroke apart.

It all falls on you really. Cars are insulated steel boxes with sound systems. Unless you're making the sound of a ground-bound jet fighter no one will hear you. Let's amend that then for clarity. You have to ride like every driver on the road is blind and deaf. Bright clothing and loud horns and exhaust only help with people who see or hear you already.

It's the belt slip. A belt drive at it's best is only about 80% efficient. My 50cc gets 135 mpg with gears and a chain. The best belt drive 50cc I've ever heard of hits around 100 mpg.

Mine wasn't as dramatic looking Rich, but the piece of valve spring I found in there was about 3/8" long. Certainly enough to cause some damage in the wrong place.

I don't remember where I got it from. I used to keep stuff in a minivan when we lived in Brooklyn and had so little space, fifteen years ago. It was car stuff, tools, etc. It has a dairy name on it.

Family Dollar oil! Cool stuff in a four stroke. Not so hot for a two stroke.

Doesn't that say 2T up there? I would be more concerned about carbon buildup than break in using a four stroke oil in a valve less engine. I would use a good two stroke oil to break in a two stroke.

If it's running OK leave it alone. If there's a problem it will show up. "Good news will keep, bad news crashes through the door."

Yes. It's quite handy to have the 50cc GY6 manual. Everything is even relevant to the 150 except the valve clearances. You can also see that the screen is not a vestigial organ. Contrary to public opinion I don't just make things up as I go along. Unless it's a repair on my own stuff.

I'm just glad we could help. Is the Girling shock company still in business there?

Mounting the crate on Rocket was a cinch. I removed the pillion pad behind the main seat and that left two threaded bolt holes to put through the bottom with some metal strap inside. The crate was over the small rack and I used two heavy duty zip ties through the crate and around the rack. Voila, less than ten minutes to install. It went from nearly useless to a main grocery getter in nothing flat.
