Steven I hope i caught you before you bought a scooter, chinese scooters are the cheapest, most poorly made scooters out there, couple that with the fact the replacement parts are worse then the originals lol your better off buying a honda or yamaha, you will pay more yes, but you will also never be wrenching on it to read my real world experience with these feel free to visit msj.4321fun.comI just spent 8 hours on mine fixing crap that was broken enjoy the ride!

70 mph?

just an FYI:
I was able to tune a gy6 150 to a top speed to 76 mph on the i 95 ( i reached this speed while drafting a 18 wheeler through nh) to get here i modified the exhaust, took out the egr system and evap system, also i upgraded the gearing, the roller weights to 14 grams, also i did the carb.
I would not reccommend that though, these machines are not made for reliability or durabilty, if you want to go fast you need to buy a 250 and get a honda, chinese scooters are real POS and you will only regret trying to make it work
stay away from chinese, on monday im filing a suit against the people who made mine for the pain i went through, though my story is somewhat unique

Guess i have to jump on here to clarify some things
first and foremost
CHINESE SCOOTERS ARE JUNK, this is from expereince they are not quality, they are not dependable, they are not durable, and i daresay that the parts for them are just as bad if not WORSE then the parts already on them, they come with cheap support, hardly any warranty, and are best suited for around town at best 30 mile rides at a time.
This is not to say that the chinese scoots dont please some people who pretend to turn a blind eye to the glaring defects they are inherent with (i myself made this mistake)
When this trip is over i will be writing a very comprehensive and GLARING review of said scooter
for those of you who so quickly chimed in with cracks like "i could see it all along" and " i knew this would happen" YOU WERE NOT THERE, IT DIDNT HAPPEN TO YOU, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT, AND TALKING LIKE YOU DO MAKES YOU SEEM LIKE A BIGGER FOOL THEN I WAS FOR TRYING THIS TRIP!
with that said the scoot died because a faulty gasket was shipped with the engine, 2100 miles down highway or 50 miles back home it was a time bomb waiting to happen, case closed
as for the cop issue, i was within my rights to take the ticket (which has now been cleared btw) and continue on, i am fully insured thanks for that
speeds? i think the scooter is perfectly capable of the speeds we told you about, and the engine stayed at good temp levels (see report once trip is over)
I have been offered 2 book deals (premature) and a possibly movie of my trip so far.
My sponsors did the best they could remember they are buying the same chinese "JUNK" as we are so why are we any better,
truth is ill finish this trip and win my bet, and i have learned a lot on this journey, keeping the site updated is a lot harder then it may seem for those of you who are not happy with the blogs and photos you dont have to continue reading,
I try to understand that most of you write these things from the comfort of your easy chair in a warm home while it is I thats out here sitting roadside putting fuel in, dissasembling engine parts in the breakdown lane, freezing in sub zero wind chills, i really want to have sympathy for the "knowledge" that you all have so much of when it is ME that is really aquiring this knowledge
ALas im all done for now the bet is still on the blog is still being updated and i sit here before i leave for yet another wonderful location in sunny florida
Im less then 500 miles from the keys

i know but there is no way to track it down, turns out ALL VENTO units used the same sender as all other scooters, NO DIGITAL UNITS were made for scooters, those were for cars only, lol
with no idea which direction to go in this is pretty much at a standstill for now lol
ill update if by some miracle we get to a better idea of what happened, but its not # 1 right now on the list

Good luck! You need a digital sending unit... as predicted lol sprocket chimes in with the answer, any idea where i might find one of those sprocket, and arent you the same sprocket that told someone on scootdawg that they would see no gains with new gears when in reality gains of 4-9 mph on the top end can be realized on a 150cc scooter? so your saying ventos all had digital sending units?

Why go through the hassle of putting in a digital dash??? Anyhow you will need the sender unit designed for the digital dash...they don't swap analogue to digital.. I know I have tried it... Why not get a TrailTech Vipor and be done with it... trailtech.net/vapor.htmlThere are also phone apps that will do everything you need with GPS other than the fuel gauge umm two reasons trailtech rips you off on the shipping of their products, and they are tiny and they suck lol besides that is NOT the answer, the answer is requiting intelligence, not buying something to avoid the issue i see way to much of that on scootdawg as it is!

true except for the fact that no matter HOW they are hooked up the readout does not change
the yellow+white wire is the + power wire The blue+white wire is the signal wire
if you read the pinout i attached you will see there are no wires left on the speedo cluster to put these wires too

Does the digital dash have a menu to change and calibrate the sensor buy choosing from a list of values or inputting your own value. Should be some what like calibrating the speed. Roy thisi s a chinese scooter lol, the box came with chinese writing on it and thats it, I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT A CALIBRATION screen however either it is not that complex or they are not telling. It has three buttons on it, H for hour M for minute and one to select between MPH and KMH thats all though i think your thinking to detailed, this is a wiring thing nothing more!

roy
yes the digital dash has lines that would represent how much fuel is in the tank, the float and sensor both work fine!

ok so here is the situation everyone my sponsor provided me with a digital dash for the trip (which is now on hold) my original analog dash has the following features speedometer odometer (320 miles so far battery level fuel level digital clock in center cell phone light (bluetooth) the new dash has the following speedometer odometer with clock tachometer fuel gauge (center) on the old speedometer analog the fuel sending unit sent TWO wires to the back of the gauge yellow+white stripe FUEL SEND + blue+white stripe FUEL SEND SIGNAL GREEN wire went to ground there is a 9 wire molex plug on the factory harness there is a 9 wire molex connector on the digital dash I have repinned all of these the fuel gauge just blinks at 1 bar and does not register the fuel in tank i have attached a pinout i made by checking EVERY WIRE, anyone at all have any ideas or suggestions (my last resort will be to cannibalize the analog dash and remove the fuel gauge (separate unit) and mount it on my dash) anyone help!!!!!!!!
