Update to the story...
Still have not received the micro-switch from Sunny/ScooterDepot.
On the plus side, the customer just bought a brand new Can-Am Spyder. $17000 worth of sweetness.
Problem is he would like us to by-pass the micro switch.
This would allow the bike to potentially be ridden in the locked position. We could always remove the locking mechanism, but my partner has serious reservations that it would leave us extremely vulnerable to litigation should the customer have even an unrelated accident.

Alley,
I don't think the importer/ distributor is making that much. Like I said, the distributor I use is charging $820.
Probably paid 600 or so from China. Throw in sea shipping,customs, and warehousing costs and I figure they're making maybe$60 per unit. Their money is made in volume.

Dealer cost is 820 fob CA. If you ship enough you can probably get the shipping cost per bike to around 100-110. He's charging 240 shipping...so figure he's netting about 200 a sale. If he's sitting in his underwear sipping a beer using his laptop... $200 ain't too shabby.

Talk about a mistake.....
Last year I ordered a reverse trike from Sunny Powersports(DF150TKB) . Okay, I admit it, I was taken in by the novelty. Sure was a show stopper. Everybody ooh and awwed over it. But nobody bought it ! Finally sold it last fall. Of course it's now back in the shop...and has been here for 5 weeks!!!
It has a defective micro switch that controls the cdi when it is in the locked position.
I have called numerous times to Sunny/ScooterDepot...bitched, moaned and complained.
Still can't get them to send me the switch. I've even offered to pay for it!
I keep getting shuttled off to various people and departments. Each one promises me they'll send it right out.
I mean these people could "eff-up a two car funeral". And I'm a dealer. I can only imagine what a retail customer must go through.

The part I do not understand medman who quit SD abruptly In 2009 or early 2010 and started his rebel forum only to come back as a mod in oct of 2010 and then banned jr who then started the scooter professor forum 6 months later....... then both came together to hijack whats left of that forum! oops did I say too much? Well I think the answer to that is the same as when they asked the famous bank robber Willey Sutton why he robbed banks...he replied " That's where the money is"  |

Just put in our first order from Lance. Initially stocking the Cali Classic 125, the Rocky 150, and the new PCH 125. Very impressed when I saw them at the dealer show. Of course, they are being distributed by Alliance Powersports who also distrbutes SYM. Lance bikes are now all made by SYM and carry the RFG vin designation which is a plus for us here in PA, as they will not have to jump through the PennDot hoop that Chinese scooters must do. lancepowersports.com/Two year powertain and one year tire to tire warranty !! |
