Cool Hand Luke, one of our greatest movies ever...this movie and Shawshank Redemption are the two best prison movies ever made...and yes, The Great Escape too.

Thanks guys, i quickly learned after riding for only a few weeks that these little Chinese engines can only be pushed so far before you start to feel the consequences. And it didn't take me long to want something more...so soon I will be selling my Motobravo in favor of something...Japanese : )

I know that redline riding is said to cause damage to the engine. I'd like to know, more specifically, how a redline is established, and what's the point of a redline if you shouldn't ride into that zone in the first place? My redline starts at about 50 mph, which on this Chinese bike is in reality 40 mph. You're always looking for that extra push and the redline zone becomes enticing. What type of damage am I causing when riding into the red zone?

I live in an apartment complex and don't have the garage to work on the bike, not to mention the tools. There is a place just a few blocks from me called Pacific Rides that services Chinese scooters. I've placed it in their hands although i know it's gonna cost me. I'd like to get the Hornet in good, non-leaking order in order to eventually sell it. I'm graduating to the DCT NC700x in about 3 weeks time.

Hi guys, I've been an owner of a 150cc "motorcycle" scooter for a few months now. I've put 1100 miles on it so far. For the past month and a half I've noticed an overwhelming gasoline smell right after riding and I've noticed the gas gauge zip down to almost nothing in a matter of just a few miles. Something's definitely wrong here but I am not mechanically inclined. Typical scenario, I fill up, the gauge remains above "Full" for a good amount of time during riding. When the gauge finally begins to dip it dips fast. this scooter is supposed to get up to 80 mpg's or at least 70 but i am not getting that. I have noticed some grime deposits when observing the lower engine. Any ideas? It is a GY6. Also, where can I order a replacement left brake lever for this bike and get it relatively fast?

I put the first 100 miles on it pretty fast, and I can't help but feel that I might be putting too much pressure on this little engine. I love riding, and want to use the bike whenever I can to run errands around town, etc. This bike I think rides more like a motorcycle than a scooter and the style has a lot to do with it. But this bike's purpose is to prepare me for something bigger and better down the line...

Actually the manual says to use 15W40 SF so I guess that's what I have to go with...

Sproket, the tech at the place where I bought the bike says to use 10W30. Not sure it says in the manual what to use. I think it doesn't. As far as gear oil, he says to change it after 1000 miles to 8090. I am only approaching 100 miles. What do you think?

Thanks ally, yeah it is both actually. Supposedly it's big enough to fit a helmet but it doesn't fit my full face helmet. The gas tank is located at the bottom of the storage. I was doing 50 on it today without problems.

So this is my GY6 scoot. I think the first minor mods I'll do are the airbox and exhaust. Also getting ready for the first oil change after break in period. What oil do you guys recommend? Attachments:

Ok can most of you guys safely say the stock air filter on the 150 Hornet restricts airflow flowing into the carb? Will I have headaches installing a uni and adding a free flow exhaust? Who supplies the ff exhaust pipe I should get for this vehicle?

Bashan, what immediate benefits do I get from swapping out the air filter? The stock filter and housing is huge on this thing. But I have to say I like the idea. Thanks for the help guys. Do you guys disengage the battery when not using? Also, thanks for all the welcomes. I can tell this forum is populated with great people who are willing to share knowledge! Also, what oil do you recommend after I drain the break-in oil?
