Last sat I replaced the valve cover gasket that was leaking and when I was done I took a paint brush with solvent and sloshed it around the engine and the plastic. Then sprayed engine with dish soap and hosed it down. It did not cause any problems at all. I do not let it sit out side at all normally and only had it in rain coming home a couple times.
