how thick is the oil? and does it have a gas smell to it? maybe your valve seals/seats are bad and causing excessive oil leak? need more info... its there a way i can check on those now that i have the head open?

I'm sorry, I still can't figure out what you're referring to in that picture. There's the lower cam chain guide slot but other than that there's not much there. I looked on a cylinder and head downstairs and didn't see any cracks, that can't be a good thing on yours.
IN is for intake side and it faces UP, EX is for exhaust side and it goes DOWN. Same for the cam bracket but it can only go one way, it hits the intake valve if you have it the wrong way.
Black compression ring goes in the middle of the piston, the silver on top. Any markings on them point up. Rich thanks alot, i have been keeping and eye on your gy6 rebuild , that helped me alot

2 questions... 1 on the piston, i see the word in, where does it have to face to the top or the bottom?
I bought some rings that are marked d and dy one its black and the other silver, does the black goes at the bottom and the silver at top?
and the camshaft holder, does the e x goes at the bottom?
thanks for any help...

i had 1 quarter yesterday, today i had to add anotherone You mean it's using significant oil? That won't hurt anything, it's a good check for the oil delivery system.whats next? what should i check for the white smoke? Unfortunately the next step would be a compression check but I'm assuming your access to equipment is limited. You can also stick your finger over the spark plug hole and see if it pushes your finger off when you crank it. That might tell us if the compression is really bad. Hey, make sure the crankcase breather tube is open to the air and not plugged. That can cause all sorts of problems.
What's a facebook? Richso what if i skip the comresion chek, unmount the head and piston and change rigs? wouldnt that give me better compretion and fix the white smoke issue? i have done that on my preview motorcycle, but it was a 2 stroke, if i do decide to do that just tell me wht should i be carefull for?

How much oil do you have in the crankcase? It could be blow-by but check the easy things first..then run a compression check on the engine i had 1 quarter yesterday, today i had to add anotherone, ill check too see how much its lefth today....I just removed the valve cover and everything looks clean, with oil of course, but no carmelised stuff, and i know the oil pumpp works as i turn on the engine without the cover and lots of oil start to came out. lol promise i wont doit again...whats next? what should i check for the white smoke?
