Heading down to Reidsville NC on wednesday (4/17) to visit family. Any scooter folks in the area? Saw an Ad on CL for a scooter shop in Eden, any comments?
Would love to meet any folks in the local area. Will also be in The LaQuinta Inn at the raleigh/durham airport for an overnight on Monday the 22nd for folks in that area...

Nothing wrong with MY rear end, in fact my wife compliments me about it quite often... ;-) I was thinking... If I end up buying this jcl 250 for say $800, it might be worth the effort to convert it to a trike. If I just flip the 250, I also have my eye on 2010 Icebear 300cc Trike a local consignment shop has for $2,995 (has 84 miles on it).

Got the new parts in from Tvnacman, 15 minutes later they are on the scooter and all buttoned up. First impression is: WOW... Scooter now starts moving around 2,700 rpm and topped out at just about 52mph (per GPS)/ speedometer reading just over 55mph. parts upgraded to were Koso teflon coated 115mm variator, 12g roller weights, new stock boss/sleeve, and new stock Fan plate. Next upgrade will be extractor exhaust and free flow muffler. Objective is an honest 55mph cruising speed. On another note, currently negotiating on a 2007 JCL MP-250A 2 wheel scooter. Anyone know where I can find an Icebear trike complete rear assembly..? Thanks again John

Got my Daix 150 Trike up on the work table yesterday and now the fun begins. Got the CVT cover off and noticed right away that the recoil start housing does not sit flush to the cover. The recoil mechanism inside the housing is all chewed up on the inner face. The cage attached to the variator fan is bent (looks like a screwdriver was used to get the variator nut off w/o impact gun). Then noticed that several vanes on the fan are broken off (Previous owner at work again). I popped the variator nut off with the little 3/8" drive impact gun I picked up at lowes last week ($40 on clearance), it is only 200 ft/lbs but did a nice job on both variator and the clutch nuts.
upon examination of variator and fan I noticed that there is a 1/4" mirror finish band around the extreme outer edge of both. The rest of the faces are cloudy/opaque. Is this a normal condition? I was going to replace the stock variator with a 115mm one, but now I guess I should replace the broken fan plate as well. can I do away with the recoil housing/cage attached to variator? Is there a plate to replace the cover/housing or do I replace to whole CVT cover with a non-recoil cover? The clutch pulley faces are clean almost mirror finish. Outer clutch housing had a bit of rust and some odd grooving inside. Clutch shoes have smooth (unglazed) surface, I figure those a good. No broken springs and otherwise smooth operation. Should I replace the outer clutch housing or just smooth it down a with a scotchgard pad..? Thanks Jon

A buddy just traded for an older Burgman scooter for his wife. After riding my '09 Daix Trike she wants him to covert it to a trike. Nicest conversion we have seen so far is a Dayton (?) trike kit

A buddy of mine just acquired an older model Laser in trade for two antique license plates. Gas smelled like Sh^t. He has a YouTube video up on "old start cold start Moped" on his channel Mustie1 (sorry haven't figured out how to link YouTube video here yet) Jon-reed

Here in Southern NH I moved the scoot out of the tent garage winter storage about three weeks ago into the barn for spring tune-ups. The next day it snowed a foot. Last week we got another 8"-10". This past Tuesday we got over a foot of snow. Today (Saturday) thru the beginning of the week it is supposed to be in the mid to upper 40s. This means on the south facing side of the house it'll be near 60 degrees and the snow will be gone by Tuesday. Wednesday night the weatherman says maybe another 8"-10" of snow... Hoping it stop snowing so I can Ski's Shrimp Run in Central ME in JULY..!

Bashan, Congrats on the 30 yrs of marriage! My wife and I hit 36yrs in Dec. It is nice to know someone somewhere in the US has warm enough weather to go riding. Yesterday here in NH it was 48 degrees with nice warm breeze. It was warm enough to pull my trike out of the tent garage and start thinking about riding. Today it is 30 degrees with wind chill of about 10 degrees, too cold to even go out to the barn/work shop to play.

Hi folks, Got my 2009 Daix 150 trike last summer in a trade for my '96 Polaris 425 Magnum 6x6 ATV. ATV was great for yard work and good for plowing till you locked in the front axle (making it 6 wheel drive without power steering). Already on the disabled list for bad back, plowing snow in 6wd would put me out of commission for 2-3 days afterward. That and the trike weighs about 1/2 the 850 lbs the ATV did. Now I need to get a John Deere Gator for the yard work (one with 4x4, P/S, and front mounted Snowblower).

Hi Folks. I'm also new to the Scooter Trike community. I acquired my 2009 Daix 150cc trike last summer in a trade. There don't seem to be many of these bikes on the road up here in New England, mine is only the second I've seen. The previous owner only had the bike a couple months and seems to really have beat on it. Pull start cord is missing, storage box lights wiring pulled apart, owners manual/ wiring guide missing, underseat carb access panel missing, wiring just laying all over. Handlebar cover cracked/missing pieces, handlebar clamp bolt stripped, etc. etc... Deviant, maybe we can get together and compare notes about we're doing. One question I do have... What is the difference between a PST150-19 and -11..? On AlleyOops -19 CVT cover seems totally exposed, on mine the front 5"-6" of the cover is behind a body panel. How do I get in there to pull cover for belt. variator, roller changes?
